I think that it is too late for Ash to catch anything, so either Poipole returns, Ash uses reserves, or he pulls a Cameron and enters the league with only 5 Pokemon.

He caught Snorunt 16 episodes before the Hoenn league, Aipom was caught 10 episodes before the end of Advanced Generation, and Gible was caught 26 episodes before the Sinnoh league and 34 episodes before the end of the series.

We know about episodes up to 120 in a most likely 140 episode season. The league will be in a few episodes so any Pokemon Ash catches will be lacking in development.

You mean like Snorunt, Aipom, and Gible all of whom were kinda lacking in development, yes Aipom got more development in Diamond and Pearl, but she didn't have much in Advanced. Also despite only appearing 10 episodes before the league Snorunt evolved rather quickly with that very little development. It is still possible Ash could catch another late series pokemon like that, unlikely yes, but possible.

The fact that most Alolan Pokemon have already been promoted in the anime doesn’t help.

Ash would have to capture a Pokémon in the next 4 episodes and it'd still have less development overall than Snorunt.
There are less than 20 episodes remaining in the anime, since it’s speculated to end at Episode 138.

I think Poipole could return in the Kartana UB episode (specially if it’s more focused like Guzzlord or Nihilego). Otherwise Ash will use Bulbasaur or Squirtle.

If Brionne was to evolve, something tells me it may happen in SM120, I could be wrong but I see it evolving after protecting Kyogre from a Hunter

I hope they do something special with Kartana, like Nihilego and Guzzlord. It would be a nice opportunity for Poipole to return and join the cast for the league as well.

Even though Kanto Pokemon appearing is a real possibility, I'm not sure how I feel about Pokemon who battled at 3 different leagues taking attention away from the new bunch which is already starved for battles...

Ash using his Kanto Pokémon is a reliable possibility/safe bet considering he used his Johto team in DP saga in which HeartGold and SoulSilver were released despite Ash already filled his team to six at the time. It would also be great letting him use his old Pokémon with new moves actually.

Ash used a whole bunch of his older Pokémon during the Sinnoh League, not just the Johto ones.

There is a difference between Hoenn and Alola.

First off: Snorunt was caught late, yes, but the rest of the team already got proper development, while in Alola, Ash recently got Meltan, which also needs development, so their is simply not enough time to develop both Meltan and another capture.
Secondly: Aipom technically doesn't count in terms of development, since it was post-league and the Battle Frontier was already ending + Aipom was only caught as a bridge towards Ambipom, so it was bound to have less development in the Hoenn saga anyways.

Then we have Sinnoh and Alola.
Their is also a difference between Sinnoh and Alola, just for the fact that Gible wasn't necessary, because Ash already had five regionals (And a team of six) at that point: Staraptor, Torterra, Infernape, Buizel and Gliscor, so its logical Gible, as the last capture, gets the least amount of development.

I can't particularly remember any other Pokemon.

Against Tobias, he used Torkoal, Sceptile, and Swellow, and he also used Snorlax against some random, unnamed Trainer.

Now that would be a big disappointment for me, 6vs6 battles were the highlights of the leagues
