Pokémon GO for New Zealand to remove Exploration Bonuses and reinstate the bonuses active for COVID-19 period

Niantic has announced that they will be rolling back the Explorer Bonuses in New Zealand and reinstating the previous bonuses active during the COVID-19 period, due to New Zealand’s recent move to Alert Level 4. These changes will remain in effect until New Zealand has moved out of Alert Level 4.

Though Niantic have not explicitly stated which bonuses will be reinstated, it is assumed that they will be bringing back all of the following bonuses that were recently reverted to encourage outside play:

• Incense effectiveness will be set at the standard level when you’re stationary and increased effectiveness will kick in when you are moving.
• The frequency of your Buddy Pokémon bringing you Gifts each day will be reduced.
• PokéStop and Gym interaction distances will revert back to the standard distance.
