I feel like the 'free' pokemon on the ship will eventually be captured by the duo or the crew.

I can see Pawmi being Liko's first capture.

I'm genuinely hoping Liko gets Tinkaton and Armarouge considering Armarouge is the counterpart to Amethio's Ceruledge and Tinkaton is the natural predator of Corviknight, which Amethio also has.

I'd like that idea, especially if Liko, who does seem to study Pokémon comes to the same conclusion and gets those Pokémon specifically to counter Amethio, with Amethio, or his boss, maybe recruiting either another mercenary to the Explorers, to directly counter Liko's team and Liko having to find a way to overcome that, almost like a Pokémon arms race of some sort.

There are some legendary Pokémon that can probably be caught without battling them. It’s actually be interesting to see that happen but not having it being done badly.

True but Roy specifically said he wants to Fight the Pokemon (In trailers), he might not even care for catching it despite his mysterious Pokeball.

This makes me think Roy might battle a bit more than Liko, mainly just preparing any Pokemon he does catch to face whatever this Pokemon is. I'm guessing shiny Rayquaza since its featured in promotion.

Then that defeats the purpose of them being free. Plus it'd be boring if we knew all the Pokemon from day 1.

I'm not thinking that Liko will get much in terms of Paldean Pokémon, especially considering how Ash's Journeys team turned out, but at least she actually has a starter from the current region (and we could have a Grass starter evolve under the ownership of a main character for the first time since DP).

My main takeaway from that staff list is that we are officially under new management when it comes to the writing team. Kureha Matsuzawa is probably the only one with previous Pokemon experience as far as I can tell.

Sorry to double post but I think this thread can still be used to talk about Horizons specifically.

While Liko’s and Roy’s adventures are not all that different from Ash’s from a visual and sound perspective, since OLM and most of the staff were carried over, the new writing team led by Dai Sato has brought something new. This is probably the most serialized the main anime has been.

Ash's team in Journeys isn't relevant in the context of Horizons.

Liko getting mons that are counterparts/rivals to Amethio's would be cool.
Roy getting a themed team related to music would be cool as well (So Fuecoco line, Whismur line, Toxel line, Jigglypuff line for example).

One of my ideas was actually Liko getting a team entirely comprised of feline Pokémon if they're doing a music-themed team for Roy.

I would love it if an Armarouge got to be on Liko's team. Only time will tell at this point, but I feel like it's a matter of time given how marketable Charcadet's evolutions seem to be.

I know that the takeaway from this picture may be a little silly or a little far-fetched but just one thing about the similarities here made me out-loud say “NO”

It’s a little bit silly but both Liko and Oshawott both have some sort of yellow thing against light blue. I think the reason why this actually came into the light was more because Anne looked like Sprigatito while Liko looked like Oshawott and they had opposite Pokémon.
