Pokémon Journey: The Kalos Days

A ferry drifted lazily down Aquacorde Town's river, cutting through the shallow water. The water's surface sparkled as it caught the early morning sunlight and the buildings were silhouetted against the brightening sky. A group of Surskit skated swiftly out of the way of the ferry as it slowly pulled up to a stone wharf. It was small boat, so only a few people stepped off. Jake Laurey watched this group of tourists arrive from a distance. He tossed his bag aside him on the ground and leaned against the side of a tree, trying to stay in the shade for a short respite before leaving for Santalune City. Jake had been up at the crack of dawn that morning, being that he had to make the journey from Kanto all the way to Kalos, and was now struggling to keep himself awake. Perhaps it was the apprehension of starting a Pokemon journey keeping him from falling asleep? Hachiko was sitting next to him, sniffing the air and taking in the unfamiliar smells of the new region.

Marcus Smith stepped off of the ferry, his Charizard, Kasai, lumbering behind him. His stomach growled. "Boy, am I hungry." he said to himself. He couldn't wait to get started on his journey. This region had many new Pokemon, which weren't native to his home region of Johto. He made sure to stock up on plenty of Pokeballs before he left, so that he could catch a lot of new Pokemon.

Team Rocket was not an easy corporation to work for, it never had been. Kay's work demanded quite a lot of him; traveling the world, evading law enforcement officials, disbanding other rival teams and so forth. As demanding as it all was, Kay enjoyed it all a great deal and he was very good at it. He had worked for the corporation for ten years, barely taking a single week of holiday all throughout. But now, he was illegible for Long Service Leave which allowed him to take anywhere from six to twenty-six weeks of holiday.

Kay had been reluctant at first, but when he was informed that he would lose this leave time if he didn't use it, he was swift to change his mind. Jumping at the opportunity, as though grabbing the railing of the caboose of the last train out of town, he left Kanto for the exotic Kalos region, taking with him only his Umbreon.

Less than a day later, he arrived by ferry in Aquacorde Town.

Kay stepped out of the ferry and on to wharf, taking in the sights and scenes as he did. A camera was strapped around his neck and he held it enthusiastically. Aquacorde was beautiful. It was an excellent place to start his holiday. If all of Kalos were like this, he might find that this would be an enjoyable holiday after all.

If only he had known what kind of trouble lay ahead.

James rubbed the red handprint on his face as he and Shizuo stepped off the boat, with Shizuo chirping happily. It wasn't James's fault that his Laptop had 35 Zetabytes of, er, 'Special material'. And it wasn't as if he had let that ten year old boy take a look at his laptop and show it to all of his friends. But James had still gotten slapped in the face by the boys mother.
James gave a small grin when he looked at the Kalos sky. After all, it's not like ALL the girls in Kalos could resist his charms, that he had spent minutes on perfecting via Dating sims and asking around on 4chan. Yes, this journey would be very eventful for James....

Just, not in the way he would've liked.

Jaide quickly walked off of the ferry; behind her was Finn who was currently being dragged by her Ampharos, Momo. He was busy grumbling to himself about the dirt that was getting all over his 'perfect' outfit. "Hey! Jaide!" He yelled out at her. "Tell Momo to get her dirty paws off of me!"

She looked back at him with a cheerful grin. "You weren't fast enough getting off." That grin became a mischievous smirk. "I figured you needed a push."

"This is demeaning! I'll be the laugh of Kalos!"

"Oh cool it, drama queen." Jaide good-heartily laughed.

Glancing at his Poketch Jake realized that he dozed off for a few minutes. He didn't know whether it was hunger or just his nerves, but he felt inclined to pull a lava cookie out his bag and began eating to keep his energy up. Jake chuckled at the scene unfolding by the wharf. An Ampharos was pulling a boy through the dirt.

Adam proceeded off the boat with a spring in his step, with Chimecho hovering close behind him. Adam took a look around the place; it looked antique, yet new and bursting with life at the same time. The sun rose just over the building tops, casting shadows across the stone floor. The whole place made Adam feel as if he were in a living painting.

"Wow, would you get a look at this place!" Adam said to his Chimecho, Melody, who was hovering beside him. "I can't wait to see what the rest of Kalos looks like!" Adam continued to look around with childlike awe, eager to start a new journey in this unfamiliar place.

"First things first, though. Gotta stock up on some supplies... let's see..." He took out his map which he had bought at the docks in Sinnoh, giving it a thorough search. "Aha! There's a shop right over there!"

He reached in his pocket and took out his wallet, counting out his money. He only had 1,000 Poke to his name, but that would change soon. For now, it was all he needed, and Adam made his way to the shop with Melody hovering right beside him.

Kay was so busy taking happy snaps all over Aquacorde that he didn't even notice how much of tourist he was really being. He was used to taking pictures for reconnaissance, for serious business, but this was something he hadn't experienced before. He was drunk on Kalos.

And to think he had twenty-six weeks to do this.

After a little while, he decided to look in to a shuttle that would take him Lumiose City. To his delight, the big city seemed to have a great deal to offer; fashion stores, battle centres, hotels, even a filming studio. To his dismay, no such shuttle existed. If he was going to get there himself, he would have to walk.

Still, he was determined to make the most of this experience. He soon learned that there was a forest just north of here on the road to Santalune City that was apparently a lot like Viridian Forest. With a sense of nostalgia in the back of his mind, Kay was eager to see this place for himself.

After a little more exploring.

"Don't wander too far off, dear."

"I won't mom," Emery promised, giggling along side the Pokémon in her arms. The duo walked off, exploring the town with a fascinated sense of curiousity. "So this is what Kalos is like..." The girl set down the Zorua, allowing it to walk along on its own. The Zorua morphed into a Lillipup, a common sight in their home region of Unova, and chased after Emery quietly, who was walking along without paying much attention to where she was going.

"So this is what Kalos is like..."

Jake turned towards the sound of the voice to see a Lillipup chasing after a girl who he supposed was its trainer. Hachiko sprang to his feet and approached the duo out of curiosity. It looked like a normal Lillipup, but sure didn't smell like one.

Jake dashed over in pursuit of Hachiko, his face reddening with embarrassment. "S-sorry about that. He's still getting used to Kalos and its scents."

James whipped out his camera and began taking photos of everything. Shizuo was resting on his head, giving the occasional small kick right into James head. James for his part ignored it, too enamored in the beauty of Kalos. 'Is this...what I've been missing for all these years?'

"Hm?" Emery hummed, turning around to be greeted by the sight of an Arcanine and a male trainer. She saw the Arcanine sniffing the Lillipup that had began cowering behind her and giggled, scooping the Pokémon up in her arms.

"It's fine," the girl smiled, petting the Lillipup. The Pokémon let out a content sigh and transformed back into a Zorua, closing its eyes in comfort. "She doesn't care for the attention though."

Terrence took a deep breath of the fresh air, and stepped off the ferry. He was happy to be on a new journey, and it showed. He couldn't wait to discover what new Ground-types he could add to his arsenal.

A huge grin spread across his face, and he pulled out a Pokeball. He tossed it up in the air, where it burst open, allowing his Swampert, Marty, out.

"All right, Marty," Terrence said to his Pokemon, "are you ready for a new adventure?"

"Swamp!" Marty replied, and the two high-fived.

Finn eventually squirmed himself out of the Momo's grasp, saying. "I hate you, Jaide." He brushed the dust off of his clothes with slight panic, taking off his hat. Jaide let out a sigh. "Oh, Finn, you are so immature at times." She reached for his hand, only to find he swatted it away. Finn stood up and marched away, smacking into a girl with a Zorua.

(We just started, you missed nothing major)

Emery let out a small shriek of surprise at being knocked down, accidentally dropping the Zorua in her arms. The dark-type picked up itself up, looking up dizzily and seeing the Arcanine. At the sight of the the beast, the Zorua retreated back into Emery's arms, curling up into a ball as it cowered in fear.

With a soft smile, the girl began to once again pet the Pokémon, standing back up as the Pokémon began to clam down. "There, there. It's alright."

Marcus saw many people who had come off the ferry were gathering near it now. He and Kasai walked near the crowd, looking for someone to make friends with.

"Thanks." Finn sarcastically said, brushing more dust off of his outfit. "I'm okay too--" He looked up at her. "I, er, uh." His cheeks became a shade of light pink.

Hayden, leaning on the ferry's railing, thumbed at his Pokegear. He was looking over the basic map of Kalos, which he had installed on the trip over. He noted to himself that their destination, Aquacorde Town, was in the southern part of the region.

"It looks like I should head North from here, not much to the South," he said to himself. He absentmindedly felt for the Pokeball located in his hoodie pocket, and was comforted by the fact that it hadn't gone anyway. He considered bringing out his Noctowl, but thought better of it, realizing the nocturnal Pokemon probably wouldn't appreciate being woken up so early in the morning. "You can see Kalos later, buddy."

Looking up from his map, Hayden realized most of the other passengers had already disembarked. What an unusual group of people, Hayden thought as he left the ferry and took a look around. Deciding that he could use a bite to eat, and knowing that Kalos was famous for its cafes, he decided to look for somewhere to get some food.
