Yeah, this is almost surely not the right place for this but I can't find any other section close enough so HERE IT IS.

I'm after the script from Pokemon Live, in physical or digital format. I have been able to locate ACT I — SCENE 2, ACT I — SCENE 8, and ACT II — SCENE 2, but I'd like the full thing if anyone happens to know where to find it- or if anyone knows an English recording of the full show, in video or audio format, I could transpose. I'm interested in putting this together as an actual show again and I already have all the music/lyrics, so a few missing scenes are all I need (although, that's also a pretty major loss XD). Thanks in advance and feel free to move it if it doesn't go here or delete it if it doesn't go anywhere :spin:

Given how difficult it is to find a soundtrack to the show, I'm not sure if you could find a full script anywhere. I don't know of it being sold, nor am I aware of any official recording of the full show. Good luck.

I did some checking around the usual sites, but found nothing. Sorry.

Incidentally, I never knew that some of the credit songs from the movies came from this play.

I read somewhere a while ago that there were no official recordings of the show, so finding an actual recording of it might be hard- and seeing as the show was in... early 2000's, fans who tapped it with a hand-held camera might not have the footage any-more.

Thanks for trying. And yeah, I was shocked to find that out as well!

Well, I know there are some recordings in Portugese on YouTube... they have the English music and a few translated lines, but not the entire play or exact translations of anything. That's why I was hopeful but I guess I shouldn't be :(

Thanks for the help so far guys!

I'm also interested in a script for this show.
Well, here's the scenes that I have-

ACT I — SCENE 2

Scene opens and ASH is in his bedroom still in bed. MRS. KETCHUM is trying to get him up so he can attend a Pokemon lecture on sleep disorders among the Snorlax with PROFESSOR OAK.

MRS. KETCHUM is clearly agitated.

CHARACTERS:

MRS. KETCHUM

PROFESSOR OAK

ASH

BROCK

MISTY

MRS. KETCHUM

(With urgency)

Ash! Hurry up! Professor Oak is waiting! We're going to be late!

(THEY reach his room, see him in bed)

Ash! You're not even out of bed yet! I woke you an hour ago! I told you we don’t have much time!

ASH
And I told you, I don't want to go!

PROFESSOR OAK

You're passing up a rare opportunity, my boy.

ASH
I've got important things to do.

PROFESSOR OAK

(Holds up tickets)

It's not every day a world-renowned Pokémon expert personally invites us to his lecture on sleep disorders among the Snorlax.

ASH

I know all about snoring Snorlaxes. I’ve got a Snorlax.

PROFESSOR OAK

There’s always more to learn.

MRS. KETCHUM
It’ll be fun, Ash.

ASH

You guys go. I'll be fine.

(With a wink to PROFESSOR OAK)
Just don't bring my mom home too late.

PROFESSOR OAK

(A little flustered)

Ash...I'm not...We’re not…I didn't...this is a serious lecture! Professor Xalrons is a brilliant speaker. And this is the first time he's been in this hemisphere in over a decade!

MRS. KETCHUM

(To ASH)

I really want us to do things together. The way we used to. I miss that.

ASH
Mom! I'm not a baby anymore. I'm a Pokémon Trainer! And if I'm going to be a Pokeman Master, I have serious work to do.

PROFESSOR OAK

He's got a point there, D'elia. Like it or not, he's growing up.

ASH
And I've got to be ready in case I run into Team Rocket!

MRS. KETCHUM
I'd prefer it if you stayed clear of Team Rocket.

ASH

Oh, Ma... You don't know anything about it.

MRS. KETCHUM
I know more than you think. About a lot of things, young man.

PROFESSOR OAK

(Looks at his watch)

If we're late we won't get a good seat. And there'll be no time to buy popcorn.

MRS. KETCHUM

(To PROFESSOR OAK)

I'm coming.

(To ASH)
See you later. Train well!

(SHE kisses him goodbye)

ASH
(Wiping away the kiss)
Mom! You don't kiss Pokémon Trainers!

MRS. KETCHUM
You do when they're your little boy.

ASH
Mom!

MRS. KETCHUM
(Corrects herself)

When they're your son. But you'll always be my little boy. Be careful.

(As ASH rolls his eyes, MRS. KETCHUM and PROFESSOR OAK hurry off. We hear the door slam)

ASH
Finally!

(HE grabs the remote, hits it turns on his stereo.

POKÉMON THEME begins playing. ASH jumps out

of bed. He's in his shorts. HE sings and dances along

with the song as he grabs clothes, from dresser. HE, is

clearly in a rush, but should not actually get dressed other

than to put on his socks.

POKÉMON THEME (2 B A MASTER)

(This song is recorded, ASH dances to it while it plays on
his stereo.)

I WANT TO BE THE VERY BEST

LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS

TO CATCH THEM IS MY REAL TEST

TO TRAIN THEM IS MY CAUSE

I WILL TRAVEL ACROSS THE LAND

SEARCHING FAR AND WIDE

EACH POKÉMON TO UNDERSTAND

THE POWER THAT'S INSIDE

(MISTY and BROCK call out as THEY enter)

BROCK

Ash? Are you home?

MISTY
Ash...?

(Song continues. MISTY and BROCK
see ASH, THEY watch him)

POKÉMON

(GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL)

IT'S YOU AND ME

I KNOW IT'S MY DESTINY

POKÉMON

YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND

IN A WORLD WE MUST DEFEND

(ASH, sees them. HE stops, embarrassed. HE

realizes he is only wearing his shorts. HE shuts off

the music and tries to cover himself)

Misty…Brock...

MISTY
What are you doing?

ASH

I'm... It's... It's this special Pokémon Trainer workout.

(THEY stare at him, skeptical)

There's a video and everything.

(Scrambles into his clothes)

Forget it. I'm done, anyway.

MISTY

(Grins)

With your "workout".

ASH

(Changing the subject)

Did you see the commercial for that new Pokémon badge?

BROCK
The Diamond Badge? I sure did. It's on every channel. Even PBS.

(HE sits on the bed. As HE does, there is a

muffled sound)

PIKACHU

Pik.

(BROCK looks around. The OTHERS have not

heard it. BROCK adjusts himself on the bed, there is

another muffled sound that only he is aware of)

ASH
That badge is awesome! I've got to be the one to win it!

(Takes out a map)

PIKACHU
Pika.

ASH

I already downloaded my map. I'm outta here!

(From under the covers, PIKACHU has had enough

of being sat on)

PIKACHU

Pi...ka...chu!

(The bed lights up as PIKCACHU shoots electricity from

his cheeks, knocking BROCK to the floor)

BROCK
Whoa!

(PIKACHU jumps out from under the covers)

ASH
(To PIKACHU)

Sorry. He didn’t know you were under there.

Come on, Pikachu!

(PIKACHU moves to ASH)

We've got a badge to win!

MISTY
Wait! What about me?!

ASH

You can come, too.

MISTY
I meant, we were supposed to go to the movies for my birthday. Which was three weeks ago!

BROCK
You did promise.

ASH
But…

MISTY
You forgot all about it! Just like last week and the week before!

ASH

I didn’t forget. But that was before that Gym Leader came up with the new Diamond Badge. I've got to be the one to win it! Not only for me, but for my Pokémon!

MISTY

What about your friends?

ASH
Pokémon are my friends, too. And they’re important. To all of us.

ACT I — SCENE 8

Scene opens in the forest with BROCK, MISTY, and ASH. They are clearly lost. ASH and MISTY are

informed that BROCK has thrown the map into the river. ASH spots DEAF TRAINER and calls to

him. Later, MEOWTH returns with a rope to rescue TEAM ROCKET from the pit.

CHARACTERS:

ASH

MISTY

BROCK

DEAF TRAINER

JIGGLYPUFF

PIKACHU

BROCK

I know exactly where we are!

MISTY
So do I! Right back at that same gnarled oak tree for the third time! The one with the three branches!

ASH
Let me see the map, Brock.

BROCK
Don't you trust me?

MISTY
You tried that already. Give it to us!

BROCK
(A beat)
I don't have it.

ASH
You don't have it?!

MISTY
What happened to it?

BROCK
I threw it in the river when I was talking to that girl.

ASH

What?!

BROCK
I couldn't ask her for directions if I had a map in my hand!

MISTY

(Losing it)
You threw away the map?! How could you?! He threw away the map!

BROCK
Chill, Misty.

MISTY
I'll chill you!

(ASH has spotted DEAF TRAINER)

ASH
Hey, here comes another trainer. I'll bet he's on his way to try for that badge, too. Maybe he can give us directions.

(Calls to DEAF TRAINER)

Hey, you!

(DEAF TRAINER doesn't respond. ASH runs over to him.

MISTY and BROCK follow)

I was calling you. You could at least answer! Are you on your way to try to win that Diamond Badge?

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

(All lines are in American Sign Language. He does not speak.)

Yes! Me will win!

ASH

(ASH is confused)

Is that sign language?

(DEAF TRAINER nods)

You can't speak?

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

Me deaf!

ASH

Great!

BROCK
Maybe I can help.

ASH
You've helped enough already.

BROCK
Fine, but it doesn't look like either of you know sign language.

MISTY

And you do?

BROCK

Watch and learn.

(BROCK waves at the DEAF TRAINER)

MISTY
That’s it?

BROCK

(Communicates with DEAF TRAINER in ASL)

We lost. Your map share ask?

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

Maybe… But first, that person weird hair. We challenge!

ASH

What'd he say?

BROCK
He'll share his map with us.

(To ASH)
But first he challenges you to a battle.

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

No, no, no. Me signed weird hair!

BROCK

Actually what he said is, he challenges the guy with the weird hair to a battle.

ASH
What's wrong with my hair?

MISTY

Nothing.

ASH

(To DEAF TRAINER)

You're on. I can use the practice before I face that Gym Leader.

(To MISTY)
This'll be a snap.

ASH (Cont’d)

(To BROCK)

Tell him he can choose his Pokémon first. My Pokémon and I are perfectly matched for battle!

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

Will let’s see who perfect match!

BROCK
He said, "We’ll see who’s perfectly matched!"

DEAF TRAINER (JESSE)

Me choose. (fingerspell) J.P. pink round.

BROCK

(as DEAF TRAINER signs)

I choose… J…P… pink… round… I choose Jigglypuff. I choose Jigglypuff!!!

(As JIGGLYPUFF appears, BROCK, ASH, MISTY and PIKACHU back off)

BROCK, ASH, MISTY

No!

PIKACHU
(Simultaneous with above)
Pik!

(Before anyone can get away, JIGGLYPUFF begins singing her SONG. ASH, MISTY and BROCK begin falling asleep)

JIGGLYPUFF SONG

ASH

(Losing his battle to stay awake)

The Jigglypuff sleep song.

(Falling asleep)

MISTY

Anyone who hears it, falls asleep.

(Falling asleep)

BROCK

(Points to DEAF TRAINER)
But he can't hear it. They are perfectly matched.

ASH

Don’t fall asleep. It’ll draw on your face.

(ALL THREE fall asleep. JIGGLYPUFF finishes her song.

SHE looks at the three sleeping kids, then at DEAF

TRAINER, who merely shrugs. JIGGLYPUFF is furious that

no one stayed awake to hear her beautiful song — hopefully

we can get this across in a sort of hybrid pantomime with

JIGGLYPUFF using the words: "Jig", "Jiggly" and "Jigglypuff,

and DEAF TRAINER signing. Finally, JIGGLYPUFF takes

out her marker and draws on ASH's face, then BROCK's face.

SHE is about to draw on MISTY's face, then gets distracted

by the audience. SHE is about to go out into the house, but

DEAF TRAINER stops her. DEAF TRAINER takes

out his map, leaves it on the sleeping BROCK, then ushers

JIGGLYPUFF off stage. Through this, night falls. The moon

rises. We hear the sounds of the forest at night. As DEAF

TRAINER and JIGGLYPUFF exit the house, MISTY wakes up)

MISTY

What happened?

(SHE sees ASH, sleeping)

Look at you. Covered in Jigglypuff's drawings. Your hair all mussed up. It's so easy to talk to you when you're asleep.

(As SHE sings, SHE moves to him, gently lifts his head

onto her lap, takes out a tissue and wipes the ink from

his face. Behind them in blacklight, there is a flying

Pokémon ballet)

MISTY’S SONG

OUT HERE IN THE QUIET OF THE NIGHT

BENEATH THE STARS AND MOON

WE BOTH KNOW WE'VE GOT SOMETHIN' ON OUR MINDS

WE WON'T ADMIT, BUT IT'S TRUE

YOU LOOK AT ME, I LOOK AWAY

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START

I WANNA TELL YOU, BUT NOW I'M AFRAID

THAT YOU MIGHT BREAK MY HEART

WHY SHOULD ANYTHING SO EASY

EVER BE SO HARD TO DO?

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

AND TO SAY THAT I LOVE YOU

I PRACTICE ALL THE THINGS THAT I COULD SAY

LINE BY LINE, EVERY WORD

I TELL MYSELF TODAY COULD BE THE DAY

BUT EVERY TIME, I LOSE MY NERVE

I LOOK AT YOU, YOU LOOK AWAY

MISTY (Cont’d)

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START

I WANNA TELL YOU, BUT NOW I'M AFRAID

THAT YOU MIGHT BREAK MY HEART

HOW COULD ANYTHING SO EASY

EVER BE SO HARD TO DO?

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

AND TO SAY THAT I LOVE YOU

WHY, WHY, DO YOU TURN AWAY

IT MUST BE, YOU'RE AFRAID LIKE ME

I TRY, BUT I CAN'T PRETEND THAT I

DON'T FEEL FOR YOU THE WAY I DO

CAN'T YOU SEE

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO START

I WANNA TELL YOU, BUT NOW I'M AFRAID

THAT YOU MIGHT BREAK MY HEART

HOW COULD ANYTHING SO EASY

EVER BE SO HARD TO DO?

I WANNA TELL YOU WHAT I'M FEELING,

AND TO SAY THAT I LOVE YOU

I LOVE YOU…

(SHE is wiping off the marks JIGGLYPUFF drew on

ASH's face. HE wakes up)

ASH
What are you doing?

MISTY

I...

(SHE wants to tell him how she feels, but can't)

I'm just wiping off the stuff Jigglypuff drew on you.

ASH
Oh. Thanks. I had the strangest dream. It seemed so real. Someone was singing this really pretty song.

MISTY

It was...

(Wants to tell him it was SHE, but can't)

It was probably just one of the side-effects of Jigglypuff.

ASH

(Part of him is happy to drop the whole discussion)

I guess so. We'd better get going. That Gym Leader's waiting.

MISTY
Yeah, he is.

ASH

(Sees the map)

Hey, look! Jigglypuff’s trainer left us his map. This is great!

MISTY

Yeah...great.

ASH

(Wakes BROCK, whose face is still covered with

JIGGLYPUFF's drawings)

Come on, Brock! Time to go! Brock!

BROCK

(Half-asleep)

What?

MISTY

(Her frustration over not being able to tell ASH how SHE

feels, gets taken out on BROCK)

This time I’m holding onto the map!

(SHE and ASH head off, followed by the still

half-asleep BROCK)

BROCK
What map?

ASH

Hurry up, Sleeping Beauty.

(As THEY exit, MEOWTH enters with a long rope)

MEOWTH
I got the rope! I'm gonna tie it to this tree, then throw the rest down to you,

so youse guys can climb up it.

(There's no response. HE finishes tying it to the tree,

then walks to the hole and looks down, then turns to

the audience)

They're sleepin'! Takin' a nap.

Snorin' away like a couple of Snorlax while I do all the work!

(To JESSIE and JAMES)

Yo! Wake up!

(Big snores from the pit)

Great! I'm through savin' your butts! Get yourselves out of this mess!

(HE walks downstage)

They are the two lamest, dumbest, stupidest... "I'm Jessie! I'm James!"

They never do anything right.

(JESSIE and JAMES are climbing out of the pit)

MEOWTH (Cont’d)

(JESSIE and JAMES come up behind him.

Each takes an arm, and THEY lift him off the ground)

Hey! What are you crazy?! Put me down!

JAMES
Why are you saying all those things?

JESSIE
Why are you telling everybody we're losers?!

MEOWTH
Because you are.

JAMES
Like, no way!

JESSIE
We're cool!

JAMES
We're the man!

MEOWTH
Look up "Loser" in the dictionary, and you'll find a big picture of the two of youse!

JESSIE
Is it a nice picture?

MEOWTH
Youse never do anything right.

JAMES
We try!

(a la Rodney Dangerfield)

But we get no respect.

JESSIE
Everybody loves all the Pokémon.

JAMES

Everybody wants to be Ash.

JESSIE
Or Misty. What's with that hair?

JAMES
Or even Brock.

JESSIE
But they just laugh at us! Our self-esteem is in the toilet.

JAMES
We might as well quit.

JESSIE

Yeah!

MEOWTH
No! You can't! If you quit, what happens to me?

(JESSIE and JAMES shrug)

JESSIE
We've always been the worst.

Just once I'd like to be the best at something.

JAMES
Me, too.

MEOWTH
But we are the best at something.

(JESSIE and JAMES turn to him. Music starts.

To audience)

I feel a tango comin’ on.

WE’RE THE BEST AT BEING THE WORST

Let's go capture that Pikachu!

JESSIE
And deliver him to the Boss!

(THEY head off, singing the chorus of the song a capella.

MEOWTH turns to the audience)

MEOWTH
I shoulda been a shrink.

(HE races off after them. The set changes to the

Cerulean Blue Lagoon. ASH, MISTY, BROCK and

PIKACHU enter. ASH carries the map)

ACT II — SCENE 2

Scene opens at GIOVANNI'S headquarters. MRS. KETCHUM nd PROFESSOR OAK are locked in separate cages. They are trying to make a plan to get out. Nothing seems to work. MRS. KETCHUM prepares to tell PROFESSOR OAK the whole story about her aquaintance with GIOVANNI. GIOVANNI enters the room as she is speaking.

PROFESSOR OAK
No matter what, D'elia, I won't let Giovanni hurt you!

MRS. KETCHUM

We’ve got to get out of here. Thank goodness Ash didn’t come with us. At least he’s home, safe.

PROFESSOR OAK
We’ll find a way out of these cages. I promise!

(HE suddenly seems ill)

Oh, dear.

MRS. KETCHUM

What’s wrong, Professor?

PROFESSOR OAK
I’m still feeling a little queasy from that helicopter ride over here. Dangling in the air in a cage is not my idea of fun.

MRS. KETCHUM

Take a few deep breaths.

(PROFESSOR OAK does)

How’s that?

PROFESSOR OAK
Better. Much better. What’s the scientific principle behind that?

MRS. KETCHUM
I don’t know. It’s a mom trick.

PROFESSOR OAK

It’s good. Do you have any mom tricks for opening locks?

MRS. KETCHUM
I wish I did.

PROFESSOR OAK
Then, I’ll just have to resort to my martial arts training.

(HE does a fancy preparation, then kicks the cage door.

Nothing happens to the lock, but PROFESSOR OAK winds

up in extreme pain)

Yow!

MRS. KETCHUM
Professor, are you all right?

PROFESSOR OAK

Maybe I should’ve kept up my lessons. I don’t mean to pry, but…what did Giovanni mean…about you and he being back together again?

MRS. KETCHUM

(A pause as SHE decides to tell him the whole story)

I might as well tell you. I’m sure it will all come out when he gets back. I wasn’t always the upstanding woman you know. As a teenager, I fell in with a bad crowd.
There was this one boy, he started a gang that eventually became Team Rocket.

PROFESSOR OAK

The boy was Giovanni?

MRS. KETCHUM
But I didn’t stay with him long. I met Ash’s father, and I put all that behind me.

PROFESSOR OAK
Does Ash know?

MRS. KETCHUM
No! And he mustn’t. He’d never understand. I came to hate Giovanni, and all he stands for!

(GIOVANNI has entered in time to overhear this last sentence)

GIOVANNI

You have changed. The D’elia I knew would never be so mean.

MRS. KETCHUM

But you would! You hate everyone and everything.

GIOVANNI
I don’t hate you, D’elia. I have wonderful memories of those early days.

PROFESSOR OAK
Show us your "greatest achievement," whatever it is, and let us go!

GIOVANNI

Always in such a rush, Professor. You really should learn to relax. You’ll live longer.

MRS. KETCHUM

You’ve had your fun, Giovanni.

GIOVANNI
The fun hasn’t even begun. Behold…Mecha-Mew2!

(MECHA-MEW2 is revealed)

PROFESSOR OAK

There’s no such Pokémon!

GIOVANNI

I know. It’s mechanical. I created it. All by myself. Mecha-Mew2 has the power to learn and then amplify the attacks of any Pokémon it battles. Once it has battled every type of Pokémon, it will be invincible. And the world will be mine.

MRS. KETCHUM
You’re mad.

GIOVANNI
Not mad. Maybe a little angry.

PROFESSOR OAK
You’ll never accomplish all that.

GIOVANNI
I already have. Observe…

(HE brings out the Tally Board of learned attacks)

We’ve had a very busy couple of days. The only attacks left to be learned are electric. One little electric Pokémon is all that stands between me and world domination! And you, D’elia, Professor, are here to witness the final battle. You should feel quite honored.

EVIL WORLD - YOU AND ME AND POKÉMON (REPRISE)

YOU’LL ALL BE AT MY FEET

MY REIGN HAS JUST BEGUN!

MY WORLD

(To MECHA-MEW2)
YOU AND ME, MY POKÉMON

WE’LL BEAT ONE MORE POKÉMON!

PROFESSOR OAK
You won’t get away with this! You’ll be stopped!

GIOVANNI
By whom? Certainly not you!

PROFESSOR OAK
By someone!

(From Off-Stage we hear JESSIE, JAMES and MEOWTH

singing as THEY approach, carrying PIKACHU, who is

covered, and tied up with the rope THEY used to get out

of the pit. Perhaps THEY make their entrance through the

audience?)

MRS. KETCHUM

(With quiet urgency to PROFESSOR OAK)
That’s Ash’s Pikachu!

PROFESSOR OAK
I know.

JESSIE

(To GIOVANNI)

It was easy!

JAMES
We snatched him from that Ash kid out by the lagoon!

JESSIE
It was like takin’ Pokémon fruit snacks from a baby!

(As MRS. KETCHUM and OAK exchange a look, and

TEAM ROCKET sings, GIOVANNI unties PIKACHU)

JESSIE

WE'RE TEAM ROCKET AND WE FIGHT FOR WHAT'S WRONG.

JAMES

FOR MAYHEM AND MADNESS AND RARE POKÉMON.

JESSIE

I'M SO GORGEOUS.

JAMES

AND I'M ALWAYS THE MAN.

MRS. KETCHUM

YOU'RE JUST THE PLAYERS IN HIS MASTER PLAN.

JESSIE AND JAMES
Jealous?

JESSIE, JAMES & MEOWTH

TEAM ROCKET'S ROCKIN'

TALKIN' TROUBLE, WALKIN' TROUBLE

DOUBLE TROUBLE, BIG TROUBLE

(AND TROUBLE'S GONNA FOLLOW YOU)

TEAM ROCKET'S ROCKIN'

TALKIN' TROUBLE, WALKIN' TROUBLE

DOUBLE TROUBLE, BIG TROUBLE

(AND TROUBLE'S GONNA FOLLOW YOU)

WE CAPTURED PIKACHU

TEAM ROCKET’S ROCKIN

GIOVANNI

(To TEAM ROCKET)
Take the Pikachu, and order it to attack Mecha-Mew2.

JAMES
Why don’t you do it, Boss?

GIOVANNI
I can’t have a Pokémon battle with myself, you idiot!

JAMES
Oh, yeah.

(HE takes one end of the rubber rope, turns to JESSIE)

How ‘bout a hand short, magenta and useless?

JESSIE
I was just fixing my hair.

(SHE takes the other end of the rubber rope.

THEY walk him to MECHA-MEW2)

JAMES
Okay, little Pikachu. Do that thunder thing you always do to us! Now!

PIKACHU

Pi…ka…chu!

(HE turns the attack on JESSIE and JAMES)

JESSIE & JAMES
Yow!!!!!

(There is a comic battle as PIKACHU electrocutes JESSIE

and JAMES, sending them flying at the cages. Perhaps

JESSIE’s hair stands on end. PIKACHU keeps up the

attack, shooting electricity at anyone who comes near.

JESSIE and JAMES accidentally hit the bolts that lock

the cages. MRS. KETCHUM and PROFESSOR OAK

escape)

MRS. KETCHUM
(To PROFESSOR OAK)
Let’s go!
PROFESSOR OAK

We should try to save Pikachu.

MRS. KETCHUM
There’s no time! We’ve got to get to Ash!

(THEY race off. Meanwhile, GIOVANNI manages to grab

PIKACHU from behind, and locks him in a cage)

GIOVANNI
Very funny, my little yellow friend. But we’ll see who has the last laugh. Take him out of here.

JAMES
Boss! They’re getting away!

JESSIE
You want us to go after them?

GIOVANNI
Don’t bother. They’ve served their purpose. They’ll be able to give the world a firsthand report of my power! And of my beautiful Mecha-Mew2! But I need Pikachu’s trainer! Obviously he’s the only one Pikachu will obey. Do you think you can handle that?!

JESSIE
We got you a Pikachu, didn’t we?

JAMES
The trainer will be a snap!

GIOVANNI
Then stop that incessant snapping, and go do it!

(As JESSIE, JAMES and MEOWTH exit, singing, the set

changes to the forest)

JESSIE

Hit it!

DOUBLE TROUBLE (REPRISE)

JESSIE, JAMES & MEOWTH

TEAM ROCKET'S ROCKIN'

TALKIN' TROUBLE, WALKIN' TROUBLE

DOUBLE TROUBLE, BIG TROUBLE

(AND TROUBLE'S GONNA FOLLOW YOU)

TEAM ROCKET'S ROCKIN'

TALKIN' TROUBLE, WALKIN' TROUBLE

DOUBLE TROUBLE, BIG TROUBLE

(AND TROUBLE'S GONNA FOLLOW YOU)

WE’RE GONNA CAPTURE ASH-Y, TOO!

(THEY have exited, and the set has changed.

BROCK and MISTY enter, searching for PIKACHU)

The script for this show is why I'm happy the regular series wasn't written by Americans.

This play is actually what sparked a few shippers I know into the whole shipping thing in the first place.

Well, to be fair, the play was entirely created by Americans, and at the time over here we all saw that as obvious (or at least Pokeshipping). 4Kids really pushed Pokeshipping, and the songs from the play that suggest it were previously on the "2 B a Master" CD, released before the play. Not sure why DeliaOakshipping is so forced, but again, at the time the fans were almost sure he was Ash's father (for unknown reasons XD). The original novels also implied it a bit but I doubt these writers read that. The whole thing is full of fanservice and the fans at the time wanted (and expected) Ash and Misty to get together, either Oak or Giovanni as Ash's dad, and also wanted to see another Mewtwo type thing, heheh.

Holy fuck. I couldn't even read those three scenes all the way through without wanting to punch a hole in the nearest wall. And then wanting to hunt down Alfred R. Kahn and bludgeon him with a crowbar.

"Pokémon Live" is probably the number one reason why 4Kids was the worst thing to ever happen to Pokémon. Leave these guys alone to write a completely original story for these characters, and it becomes painfully obvious that they know and care absolutely fuck-all about the show. It's shit like this that tarnished America's perception of Pokémon as a whole.

Kinda makes me wonder what would have happened if some other dubbing company had gotten the rights to the show back in 1998. Maybe then, the anime would have actually retained at least a shred of its dignity in America.

LOL, I agree with almost everything you said here.

All that stuff that happened in the early "fad years" should have never happened. Of course we can't do anything about it now, but its sad how they tried to cash-in on the franchise, alter story canon, and give young kids at the time the wrong view of the series.

Considering most fans were very young back then, we believed whatever 4kids did was "true to the original," when now it just looks dated and ridiculous compared to what the franchise really was. That being said I love the old dub, but I don't like some of the things 4kids did.

Be thankful that nobody really cared enough to document it properly then. At least most people realise that it was a silly idea to begin with and almost no one takes it seriously.

It's just like the CD-i Zelda games. Nobody treats them as a serious part of the canon, but everyone has a good laugh at it for how ridiculous it is.

Anyway, while it is a bit of a... trainwreck as far as Pokémon canon is concerned (and I use the term very, very loosely). It does manage to offer some insights into what the franchise is to non-fans. If I was tasked to make a play about something I don't care about and only a vague idea on what it is about, like say, bakugon, I'd probably come up with something just like this:

Somewhat decent to me given the materal I gotta work with, but apparently canon-rape to actual fans.

So no, Pokémon Live is not really the worst thing in the entire history of creation, but no one really remembers well enough to care so why complain now?

Although there are a few unusual ideas presented, namely the deaf trainer character. The inclusion of that both intruges and makes me cringe.

LMAO!

Reading parts of the script made me laugh so hard.
It's so bad that it's go- no it's not even good...

It's just bad.

And PDL is right, there's no need to complain because it was so long ago.

The problem is it was still fairly well known back then.

Its stuff like this that gave little kids at the time a wrong impression about what the show was. Half the things people thought back then is stuff 4kids made up, which is why they were so shocked when they got older and found out the Japanese version was nothing like that.

I know, it's an enormous travesty.[/sarcasm]

Honestly, there will be differences between the Japanese version and the adaptations to other languages. Pokémon is not the first "victim" of this and it certainly wasn't the last.

But we should be lucky that Pokémon isn't a superfad that it once was. This means that the fanbase is made up of fans who really like it for what it is, rather then because it's the coolest thing at the time. It's still realtively big and the same can't exactly be said for Yu-Gi-Oh, Bakugon or whatever franchise is deciding to follow Pokémon's footsteps and make an anime with their accompanying game.

Honestly, fans can think of whatever they want. It's when people push their opinion onto others who don't agree. That's where the trouble starts.

The 4Kids dub is getting an overly bad rap here (I'm talking to YOU, Scott). Yes, they pushed PokeShipping in the show, but they didn't change EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. It was still the same show, guys, same plots (with a few cringeworthy jokes thrown in), and similar voices. They did over censoring but I have watched the Japanese version subbed and the only thing I thought was "Wow, no puns and the writing is in Japanese," not "OH EM GEE MY CHILDHOOD IS A LIE."

That's actually what I like. Nowadays you will never see them attempt to make something like this, or those Pokemon song albums about you-know-what, or ridiculous adverts.

This stuff all died down when the series started to wane in popularity toward the mid/late Johto era, which is why that stuff disappeared as we got knee-deep into Johto, but the stuff they did back in 1998/1999/2000 were unforgiveable.

I'm glad the "Americanization" of anime as a whole isn't done anymore. Probably has to do with the fact that the whole anime craze in general started by Dragonball Z/Pokemon/Sailor Moon no longer exists.

I agree, yes they mislead us quite a bit, and I am a Pokeshipper but that aside, they really injected a lot of good humor into it. The VA's were great(IMO) and the opening themes were fantastic too.
Pokemon Live was a little bit cringe worthy (even though I support PokeShipping) It was completely out of character and unnatural.
I very much doubt you'll find any coverage on it, to be honest. I wouldn't mind watching it myself actually.

Anyway 4kids get a big thumbs up overall from me.
