Masters Pokémon Masters General Discussion Thread

Mega Evolution has been shown to occur via sync moves (e.g., Korrina), so Mega Charizard X is very likely going to be utilized through the same means. And as much as I am fond of the idea of Lapras being Red’s secondary partner, everything we’ve been shown so far indicates that every trainer is locked in with one type (Fire in Red’s case). I applied that reasoning when making my predictions.

I mean, for all we know, the Red and Charizard one is the end unit, considering Red's outfit (even though the trailer kind of makes that an iffy thing).

  1. Marley already uses Arcanine. That's confirmed.
  2. Protagonists/rivals don't need to stick to one type, unlike gym leaders.
  3. Brock is the only one with a known secondary Pokemon so far. We can't infer much.
  4. Red's new outfit is almost definitely the primary one.

When I mentioned type specialties, I was speaking exclusively in terms of this game. Every in-game trainer has been associated with a color that is tied to a certain type (e.g., Green for grass, as seen with Rosa and Brendan). I was addressing what this could possibly imply, not what was confirmed.

I agree with Red’s current outfit being his main one since it was revealed well before the Sygna Suits were. The reason I brought up Arcanine was as a suggestion as to what his secondary partner could be under the assumption that each character was limited to one type. That being said, I should have also considered, to your point, the possibility that every playable sync pair Pokemon may be unique (Assuming Paulo is not recruitable and evolution is possible).

Yeah, but that could easily change along with the outfit in some cases. I just think it would be weird to make everyone type specialists.

(Assuming Paulo is not recruitable and evolution is possible).
Do you mean because of Olivia? Lycanroc has three forms, so I think that's fine.

Behold. The Poryphone!

I thought you expected him to get a starter. I guess you mean as a secondary Pokemon? Even if that happens, Paulo could get Dawn Lycanroc.

Had Porygon not been a banned Pokémon in the anime, I think Poryphone would've stayed intact in the SwSh games...

Kukui was confirmed to have Lycanroc as his main partner in the animated trailer. The reason I was writing in reference to him was because he was showcased in the same video as Paulo and Rockruff. What he gets as a secondary Pokémon is beyond my knowledge. That said, I feel extremely confused over the direction this conversation is taking.

I can't wait until the Poryphone2 comes out in about 6 months from now. Leaked concepts from Silph Co. implied some possible AR/VR applications, within a much more streamlined shape. I just hope the SD card is removable this time.

Also, I wouldn't trust getting one off of the black market, or imported "bootleg" versions which have the pseudonym "Poryphone-Z." Seriously, check your service/retailer!

I don't see what is so confusing about talking about overlapping/unique Pokemon and secondary ones.
It’s not that. I don’t know how to respond anymore since, from my perspective, some form of miscommunication occurred over the previous series of posts. My confusion is stemming from the fact that I can no longer tell whether I am being clear enough.

All caught up on updates, and I have some thoughts on some sync pair choices.

Viola/Surskit and Pryce/Seel are choices that seem weird to me. There's nothing wrong with Scatterbug or Swinub as starting Pokemon, so I don't know why they'd suddenly swap them out for others. Maybe they're reserving them for alternate outfits or something? I'm peeved about Siebold having Clawitzer too, but Barbaracle is kind of ugly to most people so I guess it makes a bit more sense. I've really come to like certain characters with their signature Pokemon, and I'll be so disappointed if they get swapped out for something else, because I've been looking forward to playing with certain pairs for a long time. Like if they decide to just give Grant a Geodude instead of a Kalos fossil poke, I'll just be so sad...

I feel like Pokemon evolution line overlap will probably have to occur at least once as well: Korrina gets Lucario, and Maylene could get Meditite/Machop or something. But Riley will inevitably have to get Lucario when he gets in, because there's not really any other options for him. You could say that only Korrina's could Mega evolve, but wouldn't that mean Riley gets immediately outclassed by Korrina once he gets into this game because his Lucario can't?

Also, I wonder how they'll try and justify Team Break trying to attack a region completely filled with the world's strongest opponents. Unless they have some very strong legendary or something, it seems like a really stupid idea for them.

Guy in the middle has a Purrloin shirt, nice.
