I think this is a wonderful idea for Game Freak to buy time and wait for the 3DS to sell more before releasing games on that system. I was actually dreading that this might be a Ranger or Mystery Dungeon sequel with Gen V pokemon, and I was getting sick of them both. Ok, ok, so the sprites of the older pokemon were slightly modified from the Ranger games, but the gameplay here is totally different. If you like turn-based RPGs and if you like Pokemon, I recommend getting this game.

This may be a side game, but this is more like a main series pokemon game than Trozei, Ranger, and Mystery Dungeon put together. I felt that it would have been better to have this on a 3DS with better graphics, but the gameplay looks great and the cutscenes are well animated so I am not complaining.

Really? Are you sure of that? It looks to me from the trailer that they're using low-polygon models to render the pokemon on the game field. Not quite low-polygon as Ranch's paper-craft style, but enough to notice some angularities whenever they moved.

You have Jigglypuff, doesn't count.

However, I may own you now =3
I'm calling it now, this Jigglypuff is what unifies Ranse, and future emperors will claim to be descended from it.

And Jigglypuff soooo counts. Did you see its badass pose?

On another note, I think that this increases the chances of our Gen V Stadium being on the Wii U instead of the Wii. We got this game coming out in Spring 2012, and most likely our Gray Version in the fall of the same year. By the time a Gen V Stadium game is released (if we do get it, though), the Wii U will probably be released worldwide.

It's too bad the existence of Mewtwo in feudal Japan (or Ranse) already makes this game non-canon. A game that codified PokeJapan and its history would have been a welcome addition to mainseries canon.

Everybody seems to love Zekrom apparently if it's been the main Pokemon of ReBurst and this crossover.

By the way, I HAS BOTH ZEKROM AND THE WARLORD GUY NAO THNX.

I don't need to know what Nobunaga's Ambition was, as a game. It's Pokémon set in the warring states.

I need this like breathing.

And I'm hoping the guy with the Infernape is Ieyasu Tokugawa.

Don't forget about the first and second episode of Best Wishes, and that one version of the fourteenth movie that was featured first, and one of the latest episodes that would involve the Black Hero's Ruins...

Darn, I only have Zekrom and Kyurem.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi is more likely, as he has been given the nickname "little monkey", and his childhood name is "Bounty of the Sun".

Back to the topic, which region of Japan would this be on? From the maps, I saw a normal-looking settlement, another one near a volcano (Shingen?), and another one surrounded by thunderclouds (Nobunaga?). "Ranse" (乱世) is an interesting name for the region, "turbulent times" for a region set in feudal Japan...

I don't think it's literally Japn but a region based of of Feudal Japan... maybe Ranse is the Captial Region of the Pokemon Nation the birthplacce? that assuming this would be considered Canon

You make a good point on Toyotomi. I'd forgotten that nickname.

Ranse is likely their allusion to the actual time period being called the "warring states". It wasn't exactly stellar living in those days.

Well... this is certainly bizarre and unexpected.

Hopefully this isn't the "surprise announcement" mentioned before, CoroCoro still has one more month to go.

Whether or not this game is considered canon, it could be an alternate universe. Instead of being made by high tech scientists in a test tube, Mewtwo could've been made via ~~ancient Japanese magic~~.

This game and doujinshi were on my mind last night and I ended up having a dream about crossover doujins being made.

I find it odd that they wait until the main series moves to a region outside of Japan (Isshu) before releasing a game based on the warring states period.

Since this is only gen V's second spin-off game, I think it has quite some chance to be released in the west. Plus maybe if it's popular they can do more of them.

Fourth, actually. Super Pokemon Blast, PokePark 2, and Pokemon Typing DS all feature Generation V pokemon.

Also, "nobody cares about"? I wouldn't say that. I for one, care about. Sure it's not a main-series game, but as long as it's a good game, that's all I care about. Unfortunately, people seem to dismiss all side-games as shovelware.

THANK YOU. I'm so sick of seeing people dismiss games that aren't part of the main series as if they don't count. The Pokemon Ranger games were fantastic, and PokePark, while flawed, was an entertaining way to spend however many hours it took to complete.

Fixed 9.9

And if you look here, and other forums, it certainly seems like a lot of people care about it. The amount of people who immediately disregard this game seems about the same size as the people who haven't posted for years yet comes back every new game to say how Pokemon is ruined forever.
