Pokemon Online Server

So, the computer was nearly fixed, and then a storm came through. Lightning caused the motherboard to now be fried. Motherboard on a stick, five dollars, any takers.

In all seriousness, though, I might somehow have another working motherboard in this joint. Assuming those didn't also get toasted.

I do have a working, on 24/7 computer, though, but it's connected wirelessly, meaning sometimes the connection will break. Would it be worth the trouble to set up this, even as a temporary solution?

Eh, I'd hold back on that then, unless you could get back up very quickly each time, but that would be asking too much on your part.

If it's only offline for 30 seconds, it can't do much harm, can it? And a temporary solution is better than none at all, in my opinion. Although it may put people off it for when it is working...

I'm not familiar with how the host program works, if it goes down due to internet programs, will it go back up as soon as the internet goes back up?

The duration of the shortage doesn't really matter. But the fact that it will go out once every two hours is the thing affecting it. Imagine you're in a ladder battle and you get d/c'ed because the Server dies, this will seriously mess with Ladder rankings, ongoing tournaments and conversations.

Yeah, what Badal said is the main problem. Didnt we have someone ready to host a backup one though?

Roach hosted the first one, he couldn't host it no more. immewnity was going to host the backup. And here we are.

If you know the specific times the wifi disconnects, we could have an announcment on the server or on the forums stating those times.

Otherwise there is not much we can do, however deciding on a schedule/number of participants/general information for this tournament can be decided in the meantime. The more we already have done when the server is back online, the sooner we can advertise it.

Is there anyone who could be a backup server host though?

It doesn't make sense. Even if we know in how much time its going to crash. Having a server means you may attract newer users, they won't always know about the crashes. Eventually they would get annoyed and not come back. Plus, once every two hours is pretty bad. Anyone would rather ladder and battle on another server than have to face a crash every two hours. Thus it doesn't matter if it happens too often.

I know a guy who hosts a server for me, I'll ask him.

Alright, I got the computer back working (kind of). So, I will hopefully be able to get the server back up and working by the weekend.

EDIT: Forget this weekend. Try NOW!

I see it, but it doesn't let me on it, due to probably lack of essential people.

I can see the server but it won't let me do anything, much like how Angad has it
