Gen 3 had some pretty cool Pokemon, and introduced great new features. But the villainous team is my least favorite of all of them.

omg we shouldn't get remakes. red blue gold and silver were only remade because you couldn't go to those regions, get the pokemon and transfer them to the most recent game. but with rse u can.

No, they were remade because remakes are easier to make than full new generations and they sell a lot. I think you are a bit ingenuous if you truly believe that Game Freak remade RB and GS just for the sake of people being able to catch some old Pokémon. It certainly could have been one of the reasons, but not the main one.

Even considering that you can transfer Pokémon from RSE to the current games, it still is a pain in the butt, simply because not everyone have a functional GBA/DS Lite and one of the RSE cartridges. Well, at least I don't :c. Remaking RSE would make our lives easier, it would be easy $$ for Game Freak and come on, who in all honesty doesn't want to play RSE with XY quality graphics or even better? Not to mention improved mechanics, like the special/physical split, Mega Evolutions, etc.

How do you even go to Hoenn with the recent games?

We need the remakes. I miss the tropical environment

One possible reason for a remake is that RSE isn't playable using modern hardware, as the 3DS lacks backwards compatibility with the GBA.

You get your pokémon from Hoenn on R/S/E, put them in D/P/Pt and then put them in B/W/2. You don't go there, but they're still compatible.

The motto is "gotta catch 'em all", so how else would anyone catch all the Pokémon?

When a system is getting old, and the games for it are too hard to play/too old/too hard/whatever, should the company that mades the series remake every single game so they're easier to play? It would make our lives easier, sure. If Game Freak made the games for free and gave us all the money, it would make our lives easier. Lots of things would, but they won't happen.

edit: oops i double posted sorry i forgot posts don't merge on this forum D:

This motto died a long time ago, in case you don't know. The main point of the franchise seems to be battling against other people, rather than catching and collecting all Pokémon available. There is nothing wrong with focusing on collecting, though.

I made my point clear in the last post, so I have nothing more to add here.

That's just it, though, people liked Hoenn and want to play through it again.

The fact that every video game console nowadays has an online shop that lets you buy classic games says that developers think they can make money buy reselling old games. Now, if they could find some way to put Pokemon games on the eShop without losing any of the communication features that make the gameplay, then we wouldn't have to worry about constant remakes, but I don't think that would be possible yet.

I see three possibilities of the plot IF there is ever a Hoenn remake. These are just guesses and examples.

1. Prequel to RSE.
There are plenty of games that release the prequel much later than the first game, so wynaut RSE? We can have the protagonist be the initial helper of Birch, and travel around collecting badges.
5 to 10 years before the setting of RSE...

Rival: Steven Stone
Villains: Team Weather (Originally, there was one team that wanted to control the weather, but they eventually split into two - Aqua and Magma)

Gym Leaders and Elite Four
Roxanne's Dad/Mentor
Brawly's Mentor
Wattson
Someone who's a Fire-type Specialist
Someone who's a Normal-type Specialist
Winona's Mom/Mentor
Tate and Liza's Parents
Juan

Flannery's Grandfather (possible Ground-type Specialist)
Drake
Glacia (something like a teen prodigy)
Someone Specializing in whatever type that wasn't used.

A Champion specializing in Diversity or whatever type they want.

2. Remake with the same story
Exact remake with more features, detailed plot with diverse events, and a more complex weather crisis. Protagonists is Brendan/May, Rival is May/Brendan and Wally. Villains being Team Aqua and Magma.

Steven Stone stays as the champion. Wallace is the gym leader, and Juan is a contest judge. Everyone else has more or less the same roles.

3. Sequels of RSE
5 to 10 years later from the plot of RSE, another trouble occurs. A new protagonist starts their journey. Depending on the gender, the initial protagonists are living differently. If the protagonist is a boy, Brendan is the 'Red' in the remake, while May works at the Weather Institute - and vice versa if the protagonist is a girl.

Rival: Wally
Villains: Team Aqua (Boss Shelly) and Team Magma (Boss Tabitha)

Gym Leaders and Elite Four
Norman
Wattson's Apprentice
Brawly
Roxanne
Flannery
Tate and Liza
Phoebe
Wallace

New Elite Four Member that probably specializes in Grass
Sidney
Glacia
Winona

Steven Stone who's also the president of Devon (with one pokemon to promote the Mega evolution - either Mawile or Lucario)

If there's anything that's likely to happen, the sequels are more likely because they can give us a lot more features, new characters, new gym roasters, new dungeons, lengthy post-game content, and of course, including every possible feature that was showcased up to Generation 6 as long as the memory allows it. An exact same remake of the initial plot would limit the content to some point, and people won't feel much difference. And while a prequel is an interesting idea, it's likely going to isloate itself from the other generations eventually.

You need a regular old DS- the one with the GBA slot- to do so, and those aren't being made anymore. You can only get them used, which means they're harder to find, and also that Nintendo's not making any money off them any more. It would be in everyone's best interests to make either Hoenn remakes or new Hoenn games.

Or a ds lite. And if they remake Ruby and Sapphire because of that, doesn't that mean they should remake Firered and Leafgreen too? Oh, and they might as well remake Diamond and Pearl because they weren't pretty enough and and DS games look weird on the 3DS. And Heartgold. And Black and White. And X and Y. (I don't like remakes ok)

Lol what? How does that even work?
RSE are just outdated, RS especially. Dry batteries, no physical/special changes yet, and just sound and graphics in general. But if you're just against remakes in general, then w/e

I wonder if they will change May and Brendan's outfits in the remakes, now that you can customize the appearance of the main characters.

Unless they remove the feature in RSEmakes, but that would be a very stupid decision...

Assuming they're remakes and not sequels or what have you, the PCs will probably have May and Brendan's appearances as the "base" design, like the XY PCs do, with it being used for them as a rival as well, and then you can customise them from there.

RSE remakes with X&Y's level of character customization doesn't seem right if it's limited to only the PC, for example if you were to give Brendon/May a dark skin tone while Norman and the player's mother have a lighter skin tone unless the player was implied to be adopted it wouldn't make sense, i think the Norman and/or the mother should also be customizable as well, in skin color at least.

I don't really see that as a big problem. I mean, Game Freak just need to program the game to recognize the skin tone you chose for you character and then make the player's mom (or dad?) have the same or a similar skin tone.

That's what I'm expecting to happen in XY.
