Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Don't we still have 3 unreleased Gen 5 Pokemon though(Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect)? I mean I know they could release them all at once if they wanted, but I kind've doubt that they would do that. Maybe they could release them a few months apart from each other, but that still seems unlikely. I guess I could be wrong. :/

They're only reserved to fill up possible space, nobody knows what plan GF might or might not have for them. Looking in patterns is really all that stalls these discussions.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

I dont think anyone can argue that a new main series Pokemon game would help Nintendo massively right now, especially given their recently revealed financial woes. They could half bake it and it would sell like hot cakes. I speculated these problems a few pages back and got shot down. Nintendo are desperate and I would love to know if they are pressuring the people involved to get started.

I always thought of Gen 3 as underdeveloped step child and seeing it with some of the HGSS sparkle plus the physical / special split (the real killer for me and the reason I couldn't go back to the older games) would be really something special.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Another reason to release remakes is to stall for time... B/W took a long time to do... and remeber it was still in the beta stages releasing remakes would give them an extra year to finish Gen VI... besides Gen II was the only Gen to only have 3 games... Gen I had 4 while III and IV had 5... plus the 10th anniversary is coming up so it's the perfect time to release R/S/Emakes... and like the psoter above me said. It would help them big-time R/S/Emakes would be an easy 100million Yen...

I'd want the exact same music. I think Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald had the best music in any Pokemon game. Seriously, I could listen to Verdanturf town's song on repeat...

On the music side of things, it'd be great if Wally got his own battle theme instead of just using the generic trainer battle music.

I'd also love to see the Magma and Aqua battle themes remixed to be slightly different from one another (ditto for the Archie and Maxie battles). Perhaps also remixed again for admin battles (like they did with the Team Galactic commanders). That would be sweet.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

How about something like the UnownDex in HG/SS, but for Spinda? One of the NPCs around that area covered in Ash could give it to you, and it could record every pattern of Spinda you find? Maybe he could give you items when you hit milestone numbers - an item at 10 Spinda recorded, then 25, then 50, then maybe 100, etc.

Also, somewhere that you can buy different kinds of Pokéballs. I say this due to the fact that, in Ruby and Sapphire, the Luxury Ball was the rarest Pokéball, with only one existing in the entire game.

EDIT: Actually, just put Luxury Balls in the PokéMart. Problem solved.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

I've taken the liberty of brainstorming up some hypothetical rosters for the Gym Leaders and Elite Four in a remake, and am working on May/Brendan and Wally's teams. I wanted to expand the usage of Hoenn Pokémon over common Pokémon such as Geodude, and expand the usage of Pokémon that exist in Hoenn but no one ever seems to use (such as Chimecho and Vulpix/Ninetales). I also took into account a few of the new evolutions of Hoenn Pokémon.

Roxanne:
Geodude lv. 12 (could be removed)
Aron lv. 12
Nosepass lv. 14

Brawly:
Machop lv. 16
Meditite lv. 16
Makuhita lv. 18

Wattson:
Plusle lv. 22
Minun lv. 22
Voltorb lv. 24
Manectric lv. 26

Flannery:
Numel lv. 26
Slugma lv. 26
Ninetales lv. 28
Torkoal lv. 30

Norman:
Linoone lv. 32
Vigoroth lv. 32
Loudred lv. 34
Slaking lv. 36

Winona:
Pelipper lv. 34
Swellow lv. 35
Skarmory lv. 37
Tropius lv. 36
Altaria lv. 38

Tate and Liza (double battle):
Claydol lv. 42
Xatu lv. 42
Lunatone lv. 44
Solrock lv. 44

Wallace:
Luvdisc lv. 46
Whiscash lv. 46
Ludicolo lv. 48
Relicanth lv. 48
Milotic lv. 50

Sidney:
Mightyena lv. 52
Cacturne lv. 52
Shiftry lv. 53
Crawdaunt lv. 53
Absol lv. 54

Phoebe:
Shedinja lv. 53
Dusclops lv. 54
Banette lv. 54
Sableye lv. 55
Dusknoir lv. 56

Glacia:
Sealeo lv. 55
Glalie lv. 55
Sealeo lv. 57
Froslass lv. 57
Walrein lv. 58

Drake:
Shelgon lv. 57
Altaria lv. 58
Kingdra lv. 59
Flygon lv. 58
Salamence lv. 60

Steven:
Skarmory lv. 62
Cradily lv. 61
Armaldo lv. 61
Aggron lv. 61
Claydol lv. 60
Metagross lv. 63

I think, if the rematch system for Gym Leaders returns, they'll be quite difficult - especially if they start using Pokémon from other generations.

Steven with Genesect? Yes please.

Yeah that won't happen XD
.

But I was thinking of what TMs the gym leaders would give you.

Roxanne- most likely still rock tomb
Brawly- Low Sweep or Bulk Up
Wattson- Volt Switch
Flannery- Flame Charge or Overheat
Norman- Facade
Winona- Aerial Ace Pluck or Sky Drop
Liza and Tate- Calm Mind or Psyshock
Wallace/Juan- Scald

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

I know. I can dream, though. :')

I'd think that Brawly would still give out Bulk Up - it's pretty much his signature move, and I can't see Low Sweep being as effective when used by a Gym Leader. Bulk Up always managed to KO my entire team at least twice. I always thought Overheat was a pretty stupidly strong move for a Gym Leader to give away, so Flame Charge could be good - maybe the TM for Overheat could be hidden somewhere on the nearby volcano, or maybe in a cave there (I forget the name of the volcano - I haven't played Gen III for years). Winona with Sky Drop - yes.

I'd like to see another in-game event, like Red Gyarados, where you HAVE to battle a shiny Pokemon and you have the opportunity to catch it.

You want to make Shinies less special by having another Shiny in-game event?

I disagree, since I've played 300 hours so far in White and haven't encountered a shiny (YET)

The same applies for Heart Gold (500 hours)

What luck you've personally had with Shinies makes no difference. It' still making Shinies less special.

Which is because they're rare - it's special when you find one. It's not meant to be easy.
