Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Yeah, because one more shiny is totally going to ruin their specialness.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Adding a shiny just for the sake of having a shiny is just pointless. If it actually does anything (like the Red Gyarados), then I wouldn't really mind it, though I think the gimmick has been used by GSC/HGSS and it wouldn't work too well in Hoenn.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

IMO the Red Gyarados was in GSC to show off the fact that they added shiny Pokemon. So they'd be better off having a similar in game event to the Red Gyarados one, except the Pokemon you catch has a dream world ability instead of a normal one (to show off the new dream world abilities in this Gen).

*Looks at Darmanitan and Musharna in Black/White*
They already did that.

They did, but since we are talking about RSE remakes I thought using a Hoenn Pokemon for that would be good.

Why would they need to promote a feature that was introduced in a previous game, which was already promoted in said previous game? Using that logic, we could easily have another shiny like the Red Gyarados.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

I meant as an alternative to a Shiny. I just like the in game story events for Pokemon.

Something about this current discussion made me think that they should have the alternate-colored Kecleon available. There should be a 50/50 chance of finding either the green or purple one.

One more shiny in the, most likely, millions of copies of the game in the world.

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Obviously the Shiny would serve some purpose in the game itself and possibly have a dream world ability. Its very possible to play a game and never come across a shiny, so i'm not sure how having just 1 available for every player would really tip the scales. Besides that 1, it would still be a rare event to come across a shiny, that 1 Pokemon would just not be as special.

I dont honsestly like the whole "encounter a pokemon set to be shiny"thing because to me,that one has less value because it'll always be encountered shiny. I dont like the idea much.

They wouldn't stop the series now, it's TOO popular/makes TOO much money for them to stop

Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion

Am I one of the few who believes that Norman should have a Spinda? It's perfect as an annoyance Pokemon. Not all on gym teams should be offense based, there should be at least a defensive/annoyance one, too. I do agree that Norman should probably have a Zangoose, though...maybe switch Vigoroth out for it, while keeping Loudred.

Do not believe rumors being told around school. That is what made me believe the Mew in the Truck thing when I was little.

Doesn't matter how many copies, because that still only brings us to 2 shiny encounters out of 649. Really doesn't ruin it.

There have been rumors like that every generation. But as has been said, it's too popular to just stop.

It does for some people. Shinies are meant to be something special, either earned from hard work (SRing, Masuda breeding, PokeRadar) or encountered at random when you're lucky. The fact that Gyarados could be encountered Shiny was to show off Shiny Pokemon. That is not necessary anymore, most Pokemon players will know what a Shiny is, whether they have one or not. I've seen Shiny Gyarados so much that I get surprised when I see a blue one. I don't want that to happen to another Pokemon.
