Pokémon Remake Discussion (Read First Post!)

I don't want 8 HMs.
The fewer , the better simply because theses HMs are useful in a single situation, and then they're nothing!
Especially 3 WATER HMs in R/S/E, I was forced to have 2 water Pokes just to sort everything out !
Annoying, just plain annoying!

Definitely agreed. Thats truly the only thing that I hated about the Hoenn region, the amount of HMs and needing to use them. I personally hate the idea of HM slaves, because it kinda takes away from my personal playthrough experience.

So hopefully the HMs will be marginalized like they were in B/W in any future R/S/E remakes.

Not to mention that with the exception of Surf and Waterfall, the HM moves are useless in battle (Body Slam outclasses Strength, Cut is laughable, Rock Smash is weak, and Dive gives your opponent a chance to switch out a Pokemon who resists water moves).

I'm yet to play BW, what exactly is the new system?
Ooh! I can't wait to see Dive and Surf on 3/DS! I think they should tone down the water Pokes' encounter rate, but it's not that big of a deal. There are Repels and they're not that expensive. I hope we can run in Forrtree and Pacifilog. Oh, keep Pokeblocks, keep the old contests. I wonder what they'll do for Wi-Fi, I hope it supports WPA encryption like BW. Buuuut. I'm most of all looking forward to Dive. My favorite out of battle HM ever.

Just use one water Type to learn them all Surf and Waterfall are excellent have plus it makes sense to have 3 Water HM's in Hoenn it IS a tropical islan chain... plus Dive is better then Whirlpool... But yeah only 3 HM's were any good.

Money in Pokemon is as common as dirt. I played through RSE about 15 times now and I have never found myslef in a situation where I couldn't buy Poke Balls, Repels and all kinds of medicine on top of a few TMs from Game Corner.

Now, I have my opinions on RSE, and I'll leave them at the door, but can you honestly say it's a good thing for a game, any game, that focuses so much on water routes to have so laughable pokémon selection in those routes. Oh hey, use repels! How fucking boring is that, having to retort to repels because all you fucking see is Tentacool and Wingull.

Now, if they decided to put some interesting pokémon in the water (ruling out Dive here) for once (Hoenn would be great for this, seeing it has a lot of it), surfing could get less tedious. Hoenn has potential, it would be a shame to it get wasted.


That said, I can't really see how you can get in financial problems in pokémon unless you somehow catch every pokémon you find and use only potions or something.

Dive is kinda meh... better then most but notas go as the others.. they might just do some version on Voltorb Flip

I forgot which Pokes I had, but the main one couldn't learn one of the three water type HMs

Thanks to some law (I think in Europe, or maybe Australia), GF had to stop using Slots. I doubt we'll ever see the slots again

They didn't stop using them; if I remember right, the Game corner in HGSS in Japanese games still had the slots. It looks like the rest of us had to go with Voltorb Flip instead. I'm not saying that was bad, as it is fun, but still miss the slots.

But, if you notice, they didn't even include a game corner in BW. But yes, HGSS in Japan did have it

Nope, it's either our law, or both of us have that law. I remember reading a preview in the Official Nintendo Magazine saying that Voltorb Flip was going to be exclusive to Australian and New Zealend games. But, oh well.

I don't see what's so bad with gambling/slots....
It was a fun way to get a Porygon.

If they get released on 3DS, I'd love to see the fog in Mt. Pyre in 3D

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that when RSEmakes come out, the game corner will be removed and replaced with one of those pseudo-game corners that I only recall seeing in FRLG and Emerald.

I did see an Eevee for sale once at the casino in Atlantic City once. I wanted it, but when I put on my fake mustache and tried to enter, the bouncer saw through the disguise... I thought I could pass as a 21 year old, since I'm 18...


Who would have thought the fake mustache would not work??



I have never felt like gambling in the real world ever since.

back to remakes in general: I can't decide that if they DO add new locations to visit like FRLG did, I would want to surf there or ride a ferry to it

Personally, I'd like them to keep Voltorb Flip. I'm really bad at the slots and the roulette, but I'm pretty good at flip. However, I'd really appreciate it if they would let us buy the stupid coins. =/
I would also like, and this is my number one want, Pokemon to follow you like the do in HG/SS. That was so cool and then they went and took it out in BW. It was like a step back instead of forward.
I sort of want a new rival, too. Well, actually, I'd be happy if May/Male Rival (I forget his name >_<) were more serious. They just aren't a challenge at all. I'd like Wally to play a more active role as well.
I wouldn't mind a few new areas to explore. It would give a better reason to get the game other than just being remakes.
