I know one of the reasons GSC was remade into HGSS was due to the battery issue...since RSE and FRLG have batteries, does that mean there might be a second RGBY remake?

I am fairly certain a RSE remake will happen soon, but what about FRLG?

I am pretty sure the real difference between the two is that a dead battery in GSC is a game break and with RSE FRLG its more of an annoyance because berries won't grow or something.

There is no usage of time in FRLG, so there's no need for FRLG remake considering time system. RSE are the only ones needing improvement of that.

hmmm I thought I saw several mentions of FRLG having a battery too, oh well still the point is the battery thing is needed for a person to complete the pokedex (without cheating and assuming you can get the event pokemon) on RSE since time is a factor for that one cave with snorunts iirc.

FRLG do have batteries, but since there are no time-based events in those games, it doesn't matter if the battery has been run dry.

Also, I just realized--Geosenge Town has the Hotel Marine Snow. Geosenge = Geo- + alternative spelling of "singe" = scorched earth. Marine Snow = the opposite of scorched earth is (icy) ocean water. Hoenn remakes confirmed and Mega Kyogre will have Snow Warning as its ability (maybe Mega Groudon will have Sand Stream?!).

... I think my desire for Hoenn remakes has made me crazy.

Hoenn remakes will almost certainly happen at some stage, they are next in line & most would buy them. It really is that simple.

Will they happen this Gen? Unsure, they have 3rd version/sequel to do & will probably do something special to mark 20 years of pokemon as well in 3 years. If they are released this gen 2015 seems likely, between 3rd version & the 20th anniversary.

Sinnoh Confirmed! At least that's what people better be saying after we get Hoenn remakes, i hate how Sinnoh and Unova get so much hate when their nowhere near as bad as RBY and GSC were.

This. Sinnoh's pokemon were quite cool (Buizel is awesome, Chingling is cute, Piplup adowable and duh, we got Lucario out of it and he's the next Mewtwo in popularity), and Unova is even more vast than Hoenn when it comes to exploration, and it gave us the largest pool of Pokemon to play with to date (if they'd reduced the number, we'd have seen ones like Bisharp and Jellicent this generation instead). It has flaws, but what generation doesn't?

By comparison, beyond the rose-tinted contact lenses the first two gens are not a lot to scoff at (genwunner would probably have my head for saying that), with the most bugs, exploits, poor-quality designs (Grimer, Voltorb and Rattata; how can they be 'more interesting' or 'more creative' than the likes of Vanilluxe or Trubbish?) and almost no 'plot' to speak of unless you actively look for it. A quick analysis of the villains shows;
Gen I: Rocket; thieves who just want to make money
Gen II: Rocket; disbanded thieves who want to get their boss out of a cave
Gen III: Magma, Aqua, CIPHER; the former 2 being people who think they are doing the world a favour by expanding the sea or landmass using the legendary pokemon of their choice, only for it to tragically blow up in their faces. The latter, meanwhile, steals pokemon and turns them into heartless fighting machines for various nefarious uses (granted they were side-games, but these games were 'necessary' to complete the pokedex and should be treated as part of the main series by extension)
Gen IV: Galactic; a group of people who believe they will be bettering the world through their actions, though their leader intends to destroy the universe to create a new one for himself.
Gen V: Plasma; the Pokemon World's version of PETA, only run by someone who like in Galactic, is only using the 'goal' to fool his underlings while he will come out on top when he succeeds.
Gen VI: Flare; Terrorists in style! Granted they come off a little weak, but they're also threatening considering they have a great machine to exterminate anything that lives.

It's fairly clear which team is the most boring, isn't it? If Jessie and James weren't just comic relief characters, I doubt they'd have gone past the Johto series in the anime.

But back to the remake discussion...

I think something sad about possible RSEmakes would be that Mawville would probably lose its casino, or have it replaced with another bad Voltorb-Flip game. Maybe we could keep the Roulette thing though. I mean it's...well, I guess it's still gambling but it would be easier to change it to comply with EU law, right?

At this point I don't think they will do R/S/E remakes anymore, because I don't think they'd go back to sprites after transitioning to 3D and I don't really think it would be a simple remake if the whole thing was 3D. I love R/S/E, but at this point I hope they instead decide to make whole new games set in Hoenn with a new story and everything rather then make the same game again with better graphics ans a couple additions. I'm hoping if they make new Hoenn games, remake or not, they will introduce mega-evolutions for the other Hoenn starters, because I don't see why only blaziken should get one. (And there could be mega evolutions for Pokemon we don't know about programmed into X and Y. We probably wouldn't have known about blaziken yet if they didn't decide to do the event day one.)

and Unova is even more vast than Hoenn when it comes to exploration

Seriously? Hoenn is so beyond Unova in terms of exploration that they're not even comparable. Hoenn was an utterly huge region and was chock full of multiple paths, optional areas, and backtracking. It had a great adventure feel to it, you felt like you were exploring an entire world. Unova on the other hand, was the most linear and exploration deprived region yet. The storyline path was basically a straight line from start to finish, with only one instance of backtracking each game (Desert Resort in BW1 and Undella Town in BW2), few optional areas aside from the occasional dungeon off the main path, and small, clustered areas where the gyms were literally one route away from each other (with the exception of late game BW2).

I actually really like Voltorb Flip, I wouldn't mind it coming back.

At this point I don't think they will do R/S/E remakes anymore, because I don't think they'd go back to sprites after transitioning to 3D and I don't really think it would be a simple remake if the whole thing was 3D.

Why not? RS would look amazing with a new coat of paint, and new gameplay mechanics introduced in 4th, 5th, and 6th gen would certainly shake things up a bit.

You make a good point Bolt. Hoenn is still my favourite region (I refer to it as my Pokemon World Native region after all, since I began in Gen III) and your view is more or less how I feel. I suppose my image of unova was skewed a bit by its 'grandness' due to the structures and the like.

As for Pokestar; why wouldn't it be a remake if it was in 3D? That didn't really change HGSS, did it?

Haha, just found a little hidden gem. In Snowbelle City, in a house close to an Abomasnow, there's a lady who mentions being in the snowy city reminds her of a cold region. She asks if you want to hear a song she wrote/composed. Unlike the others, music actually plays!

Hint: It's a Jubilant and Lively theme! Even the woman, after tipping, comments 'The piano is sure nice, isn't it?'!

Snowpoint City theme?

Gen 3 is the last gen I really want remade, since it was the last before the physical-special split. One more go at Kanto and one more go at Hoenn (this one first preferably) and then I won't be desperate for any more.

I have never understood why people want remakes. Why ask for the same experience when you can have something completely new?
That they want to remake the worst generation (imo) makes even less sense.

Jubilife City.

Why, though? The Rocket theme in BW wasn't remixed. What's the point of putting it there?

Rowan and Sycamore both study evolution. The focus on (Mega) Evolution for old Pokemon. The team being 'fashionable'. The villainous team leader trying to remake the world in his image. The unexplainable Orbs beside Zygarde. Now this. Hoenn remakes or not, I'm convinced we're getting Sinnoh remakes soon.

£10 says I'm wrong XD

EDIT: Also, a Looker Post Game quest including a scientist involved with the evil team (Charon and Xerosic), Drasna is from Sinnoh and a 'Lava Dome' Pokemon is mentioned to be in Jaune Plaza or something. Lava Dome is Heatran's Species, but it may be the most likely real Volcanion.

There was Lilycove remix in Platinum, but it didn't mean there will be RS remakes soon after Platinum. There were remakes of GS instead.
If we want to make any pattern here, we can say Jubilife remix in XY means there won't be DP remakes soon, but RS instead.

I personally don't think so. Wasn't the reason of Kanto and Johto remakes is so completing the Pokedex would be easier (or in FR/LG case, possible) and with these new features and stuff in GEN VI, we can just trade with anyone if we want to complete our Pokedex.

If there was a remake, I don't want another Kanto remake (unless if it is a Pokemon Yellow remake). Hoenn would be nice but I would love a bigger after secton.

No, we could already get all of the Pokemon in DPPt aside from a few starters and legendaries, HGSS wasn't really necessary for Pokedex completion.

a) Doesn't stop the other 'hints'. (Using the world lightly here. Could all just be bull crap.

b) Was it played in game? If it wasn't, it was most likely was just an audio test/practice for the sountrack (the Platinum Exclusive Music is much more... clearer, I guess? So most likely they tested it. However, this one is played in game, and is piled in with a bundle of Sinnoh 'hints'.

Don't get me wrong. I've never played Hoenn games before, and Diamond was my first game, so I am biased. However, I'd much rather have Hoenn Remakes. Just stating my findings.

'Hints'; (If a Hoenn hint has a Sinnoh counterpart, or vice versa, it doesn't count. e.g. The Hotel Guests. Things shared by both regions, like planting berries, don't count.)

Hoenn

-Taxi Driver mentions sending money to his family in Hoenn. *Only a legit hint if there isn't a Sinnoh-Mentioning Taxi Driver too*

-Swimmer mentions swimming from Hoenn.

-Lotad is Kalos' Watering Can Pokémon

I'm sure these aren't the only ones, so please share more!

Sinnoh

-Professor Rowan is mentioned. Interestingly enough, Sycamore and Rowan both study evolution.

-The fossils are based on Dinosaurs. (Sinnoh-Pachycephalosaurus (Cranidos) and Protoceratops(?) (Shieldon) Kalos-T-Rex (Tyrunt) and Diplidocus (Amaura)

-Team Galactic and Team Flare both refer to themselves as 'fashionable', and both their leaders tried to drastically re-create the world in their image, to get rid of strife. (Cyrus wanted to rid emotion to stop strife, while Lysandre wanted to cut down the population of humans and Pokemon to stop strife.)

-Jubilife City theme (May not be a 'hint'. See: Post I Quoted.)

-Expansion on past Pokemon. Cross-Gen Evos and Mega Evos.

-Adamant, Lustrous and Griseous Orbs are oddly in Terminus Cave. They were explained in BW, and speculated in BW2 to be left by the PC of BW.

-Looker-based post game plot, which includes a Scientist related to the Evil Team. (Xerosic and Charon)

-Possible Heatran mentioning. May lead to event? Something in 'Z'? Or maybe it isn't Heatran, but the speculated Volcanion?

I really do think we're getting remakes this generation. Not because of the hints, but because it's probably one of the most lucrative things Game Freak can do. Plus, with the transition to the 3DS, it would fit the "skip one console, then remake" formula Game Freak has established (Gen V was an exception, being on the DS due to the DS's unusual longevity).
