((What kind of big gray bird is she talking about? There's Aerodactyl, Skarmory, and Staraptor.))

"Oh, that's a Skarmory." Calvin said. "It's a steel/flying-type Pokémon. Its body is made completely of metal, but its body is hollow and light, which allows it to fly speeds of up to 180 miles per hour."

"Neat. That sounds like a cool Pokemon." Annie said.

Shiny made an offended squeak.

"Oh, quiet, you know what I mean." Annie told him.

"Oh, take a look at this one." Calvin said, pointing at a red blob-like Pokémon with a blue outline. "That's Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon. It can enter various electrical appliances and take their form. There's its refrigerator form, its oven form, its washer form, its lawn mower form, and its fan form."

((Seems like something that would give her nightmares. Being attacked by various forms of Rotom.)

Annie shivered. "Creepy." Shiny flew over, landed on Annie's shoulder, and nuzzled her cheek comfortingly.

"Don't worry. I don't have one of those." Calvin said. "Hey, who's that Pokémon?" He pointed to a picture of an Espeon.

"Espeon!" Annie clapped her hands in delight. Espeon was one of her favorites of her father's Pokemon.

"Smart girl." Calvin said with a smile. A Poké Ball opened, and Espeon appeared next to her.

Annie patted her on the head, beaming.

"What's that one, Daddy?" She asked, pointing to a picture of an Umbreon on the next page.

"That's an Umbreon." Calvin said. "It's the dark-type form of Eevee, just like Espeon is the psychic-type form."

"Oh. So that 'lil guy-" Annie pointed to the picture of Eevee, "-Can evolve into all these?" She pointed to the pictures of the Eeveelutions.

"Yep." Calvin said, nodding. "Eevee has a very unstable genetic code. That's what allows it to evolve into so many forms."

"Cool. So, it changes to fit its environment, or it's preferences?"

Re: Pokemon: Rise of Team Imperial(Me & Prim Everdeen)

"The environment." Calvin said. "In hot environments, it becomes Flareon. In places with lots of water, it becomes Vaporeon. When there's a lot of electrical energy in the area, it becomes Jolteon. If it's exposed to a certain amount of solar radiation and has a good relationship with its trainer, it becomes Espeon. Same with Umbreon, except it has to be exposed to moonlight instead of sunlight. If it comes into contact with a moss-covered rock, it becomes Leafeon. And if it comes into contact with an ice-covered rock, it becomes Glaceon."

"Yep. There are people who collect the different forms, which are called Eeveelutions." Calvin said. "I think it's cruel to evolve a Pokémon without giving it a choice."

"And once it evolves, there's no going back." Calvin said. "Espeon's stuck in this form permanently. But she made that choice."
