The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the paid DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, received a brand new trailer during the July 21st Nintendo Direct, revealing new details about Mossui Town, Blueberry Academy, and the characters and Pokémon that players will be able to encounter there later this year. Also announced during the Direct was the launch of a special Tera Raid Battle event for Chest Form Gimmighoul, and a code players can use to receive a selection of items to help with their journey across Paldea.

First announced on February 27th during a Pokémon Presents, and made available for pre-purchase later that day, Part 1 of The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero, The Teal Mask, is expected to be released sometime between September and November this year, with Part 2 following sometime around the holiday season. We already knew from past announcements that over 200 Pokémon from previous games would be returning with this DLC, with over 100 Pokémon coming with each Part. The announcements today further clarify that, as with past games and DLC, the species of Pokémon which are available to players in this DLC will differ depending on the player's base game version. This most recent announcement specifically highlights Gligar as being available for players of Pokémon Scarlet, while Pokémon Violet owners will be able to catch Aipom.

The Festival of Masks
We already knew players would be heading to the land of Kitakami in The Teal Mask as part of their academy's annual school trip, but now we also have a name to put to where they'll be staying. Mossui Town and its centrally located community center will serve as the hub for the events of this DLC. Serving as a gathering place for the locals, players will also find a variety of stores, with a variety of products on display including toys and magazines. As players move outside town, they'll also be able to take in the tranquil natural expanses, with picturesque field, rice paddies, and apple orchards. Walking a little further, players will find Loyalty Plaza, a park featuring statues of Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti, the three new Pokémon introduced in The Teal Mask who are known by the Kitakami locals as "The Loyal Three". To the east meanwhile, players will find Kitamami Hall, where the Fesitval of Masks takes place. The player's journey to Kitakami co-incides with this annual festival, so the area around the hall is bustling with various street vendors and stalls selling a variety of stereotypically Japanese festival foods, including Candy Apples and Yakisoba.

Today's trailer also gives us new information on Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. Each of these Pokémon will have the ability Toxic Chain, which makes its debut in this DLC. This ability gives a special effect to these Pokémon's attacks, giving them a chance of badly poisoning opponents when they land a hit.

The Terarium Dome
In The Indigo Disk, players will be traveling to the Blueberry Academy, a sister school of their own academy, as exchange students. Blueberry Academy is apparently world-renowned for its Terarium Dome, an undersea park featuring four separate Pokémon habitat zones, each with its own unique climate and ecosystem, which are carefully regulated to provide both a liveable environment for a wide array of Pokémon species, and a learning environment for strong Trainers. The technological wonder of the Dome even includes its own artifical sky, with the ceiling and walls changing to reflect the outside time of day and weather. A pair of new characters associated with Blueberry Academy were also revealed for the first time in this trailer.

Cyrano
Cyrano is the director and founder of Blueberry Academy, and a longtime acquaintance of Director Clavell. Having heard rumors about the player and their adventures, he visits to invite them to attend Blueberry as an exchange student, setting off the events of The Indigo Disk.

Lacey
Lacey is second-year student at Blueberry Academy. A reliable person who shows the player around the academy when they first arrive, she is highly skilled in Pokémon battling.

Tera Raid Battle Event - Chest Form Gimmighoul

Tera Raid Battle Event - Chest Form Gimmighoul
As announced in the Direct, Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in 1 star through 5-star Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet until July 2nd at 11:59pm (UTC). These Gimmighoul will be available in a wide array of Tera Types. Shiny Chest Form Gimmighoul, which currently are otherwise unobtainable through normal gameplay, may also be countered rarely.

To encounter Chest Form Gimmighoul in Tera Raid Battles, players will need to first download the latest Poké Portal News. If players have connected their Nintendo Switch system to the internet while playing Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, this will happen automatically. Players can also manually download the Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, and then selecting Mystery Gift, and then Check Poké Portal News. After that, players will be able to start a Tera Raid Battle simply by walking up to and interacting with an appropriate Tera Crystal in-game. In the overworld, the Tera Crystals associated with these raids can be differentiated from other Tera Raid crystals by their aura, which is mostly clearly visible when looking at crystals on the map.

A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online, however players will still be able to challenge these Tera Raid Battles solo (supported by AI), or with other Trainers in local play without a membership.

Item Distribution - TREASUREHUNT

Item Distribution
A special item distribution is also accompanying this Tera Raid Battle Event. Using the code 「TREASUREHUNT」, players will receive a pack of items including 10 Nuggets, 10 Rare Candies, and 1 Friend Ball. This code will expire on July 31st at 2:59pm (UTC).

Players can receive these gifts by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu in Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, and then selecting Mystery Gift, and then Get with Code/Password. Players will then need to enter the codes at the prompt after the game has connected to the internet. Players will not require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive these gifts.
