Pokemon Stars Discussion Thread (Speculation)

If nothing happens this year in terms of game release, I guess the best we can do is keep our eyes on the movie that's released next year. If a truly never before seen mythical is revealed, then chances are we are going straight into a new gen, or if it's an alternate form of a G7 mon, then we may get sequels/third version at some point next year.

That said, TCPi and GF could obviously throw us a curveball. This post was created on the surmise that Marshadow, the last mythical of G7, is being featured in a movie.

The next games could be New 3DS exclusive. Sort of like how Crystal only ran on the GBC but Gold and Silver could be played on both the Game Boy and the Game Boy Color.

One thing that might support Stars or whatever version is possibly that speculated 3rd form of Lycanroc that the data miners found. I think that I have evidence that there is a third form. Rockruff has 3 abilities: Keen Eye, Vital Spirit and Steadfast. In Midday form, Lycanroc trades Vital Spirit for Sand Rush while Midnight Lycanroc trades Steadfast for No Guard. None of the Lycanroc forms have traded in the ability Keen Eye and I have a feeling that this 3rd Lycanroc will do just that.

How would N3DS exclusive would be worse. Sun/Moon had problems on old 3ds. There nothing wrong with upgrading a new 3ds.

The problem is it's ludicrous to expect people to buy a system that is basically the same they have already compared to expecting them to buy a brand new completely different one. The N3ds is essentially just a minor better 3ds. Regardless of whether the problems SM had on the 3ds and not on the N3ds it'd be ridiculous exclude everyone who already have what is basically the same system, but don't have the N3ds.

Actually that will lose people more money than if they upgrade to a Switch.

Let's assume they purchase a N2DSXL.

$150 for Stars>$300 for Switch=450$

Now if Stars is cross platform.
If someone has 3DS
$0+$300 for Switch

If someone does not have 3DS
$300+0$

N3DS exclusive would sell even less than a Switch exclusive.

Well, considering it might be a third version. I would say that the graphics will be very similar as Sun and Moon.

Also, the spotlight (main event) is only for the Switch. Only the treehouse presentation is for the 3DS, and iirc Treehouse only shows game footage, not reveals.

False. Ever Oasis was revealed at last year's Treehouse, and IIRC, Codename S.T.E.A.M. was revealed at 2014's Treehouse. I don't think anything as big as Pokemon has been a Treehouse reveal though, bigger announcements like that tend to be in the main event.

Pokemon is the main event of the E3 , despite what system it's on 3d, switch, whatever. When is there a time that they haven't reveal anything pokemon relate (main series and spin-offs) at e3. If pokemon main series will make to e3, then they'll just reveal the official trailer.

New Nintendo 3DS had the exact same issues running Pokémon SM that the normal 3DS had. Making the next titles NN3DS exclusive won't change anything at all.

It's not Switch only, it's Switch focused. Just because they say they're focusing on one system at these events doesn't mean every announcement will be for that system. There will most likely be some 3DS announcements in the Spotlight presentation.

Well it's too soon to say if it's a main line game they'll announce.......It's more likely that it is, but certainly worth tempering expectations until the very moment it happens hahaha
