Pokémon Sword and Shield anime speculation thread

Well, we have to see, what awaits us. Hopefully this Sunday we will get a clear answer. I'm personally sick of waiting and speculating at this point. Also, isn't a name like this a bit confusing? If it really isn't like the old anime, why even name it like this, if it is not going to be a reboot?
marketing, product placements. That's what you likely come to when figuring out the reasons in one of the biggest franchises in the world.

I don';t think that's the reason to why the series is being called ''Pocket Monsters'', I thought they called it that because all 8 Regions are present. It'll be starting in Galar for obvious reasons, but will also have the other 7 be in it.
Nah, the reason it's called just Pocket Monsters is because they'll be promoting the entire brand instead of just the mainstream games. What they'll promote in the anime is whatever the mainstream popular trend is (Master atm, SwordShield in November, Sinnoh remakes next year, Johto for Let's Go Johto .etc.). They have so many different products on going at the moment like GO, Masters, the new games .etc.

The main games would only be responsible for introducing new content and apparently (and sadly) be isolated pockets going forward, if Dexit is any proof of it.

Mainly the anime will be promoting Go and Masters, but the anime's start till next year with Sinnoh will be focusing on Galar.

Main Anime Theme: Pokemon Go and Masters
2019 (Season 1 Theme): SwSh (Galar)
2020 (Season 2 Theme): Gen 4 Remake (Sinnoh)
2021 (Season 3 Theme): Gen 2 Let's Go Remake (Johto/Kanto)

The next couple of years would be to focus on Gen 9 if that comes out in 2022, along with following years... Hoenn, Unova, Kalos and Alola.

Doing this would require a reboot.

It would. Ash having to challenge the Sinnoh Gyms again would be jarring in the regular continuity.
He won't need to since he's already won all 8 Gym Badges in not only Sinnoh, but also in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova and Kalos. Having these badges already qualify him to compete in their Conferences again. It'll be like the Post Game of the Pokemon games.

It'll be Galar that he'll have to win all 8 Gym badges to compete in the Galar League.

Being in Sinnoh again would be a waste if Ash has nothing to do.

If becoming Champion is one step on becoming a Pokemon Master (Now that he is Champion of Alola), wouldn't it make sense for Ash to go back to the older Regions to finally have a rematch in the League Conferences (defeating old rivals like Tobias) and finally gaining their title of Champion in these Regions, with Galar's being saved till last since he would be collecting it's Gym Badges.

It would be interesting if Bede and Marnie in the anime, specially Marnie would have that same goal of becoming Pokemon Master, finally giving Ash some stiff competition. Treating the Conferences as if they're like the Gyms, with Ash already becoming Champion of one.

I'm really hoping that a Sun and Moon episode could feature a Gen 8 Pokemon and/or character, I liked it when they showcased future generation Pokemon in the past
seems increasingly doubtful now, since after SM142 there would be 2 episodes left before the 3 week hiatus between SM and PM.

Not against the idea though.

One episode on 29th, another 4 in October. That gets us to SM145, if we're to count the obligatory 2 week break. Five episodes left out of which 2 are for the Kukui battle.
They'll have to seriously rush the Mohn plotline, Shaymin plotline and graduation.

I feel like @Grass Type Gardenia's speculation that the current series will end in Alola makes sense. They'll resume from Alola and hence cover that region. That, or they'll rush everything.

That might require that the Mohn arc is carried over into Galar which would mean that Lillie would remain an Ash companion.

The new anime (With Ash travelling to past Regions) could be a perfect way to wrap up some loose ends.

For Alola, it would be Mohn and Shaymin.

For Sinnoh, it would be James seeing how Cacnea is doing with Gardenia, and Kanto with Chimecho.

And other such examples.

This is just fanservice, plain and simple.
