I wonder if they will use the Mad-Paced Getter or XY&Z opening theme tunes in the dub. They skipped the Mad-Paced Getter theme tune for the whole 18th season and used the second variation of V (Volt) instead. I wish the dub would just use the variations of the Japanese theme tunes as they appear in the episodes instead of using the same version of one opening theme tune for the whole season.

The English logo for the Pokemon The Series: XY: XY&Z season looks very cool, although the "gradient green" and the "outline green" of the "XYZ" anime logo seem to clash a bit/don't look nice adjacent to each other. :x Either a black outline for the "Z" and/or a removal of the "gradient green" may have worked better. On the logo, the "spikes" visible on the "Z" work nicely, although the "spikes" visible on the "XY" still look like a desperate attempt to make a unique font for the English dub of the XY anime series (amidst all of the other "XY" fonts used for the Pokemon Special manga, the Pokemon: XY English Trading Card Game expansion, the Pokemon: XY Japanese Trading Card Game expansion, the Japanese logo of Pokemon The Series: XY, and the Anakubo XY manga) . >_>

As for nomenclature, I kind of liked the "XY&Z" working title.. It makes the "Z"/Zygarde aspect more distinct.. I guess "XYZ" is more readable and common, although it is weird that the season name of XYZ looks more "fuller" as a word, compared to the series name of just XY.. And speaking of Pokemon series names, I'm kind of getting confused on where to place my colons to distinguish the "series" name from the "first season of the series" (like how "Pokemon The Series XY" can mean either the "XY" series as a whole or the first "XY"-based season..oy.).

I'm really glad that the beginning of the "XY&Z" arc is demarcated in the same way (as a new season, beginning with the same episode) in both the English and Japanese versions of the Pokemon The Series: XY anime series.. :) The mismatch with the beginnings of "Season 2" and "Episode N" (both of the Pokemon: Best Wishes series) in the Japanese release and the beginning of "Pokemon BW: Rival Destinies" "Pokemon BW: Adventures in Unova" just bothered me so much.. I guess it's a new thing for the Japanese anime producers since Japan doesn't typically do "television show seasons" in the same way that the United States of America does, but here's to more future consistency for seasonal divisions!

I'm confused; do you mean that the English dubbers skipped using the Japanese opening music or the Japanese opening animation clips..? And by "variations", do you mean the practice where the anime opening gets updated with new visuals once certain episodes have been passed?

In any case, I would have no qualms with the Japanese song of "Mad-Paced Getter" serving as the English opening theme for Pokemon XY&Z"; it is quite catchy.. I hope that the English dubbers preserve as many opening animation clips as possible rather than replacing them with "standard episode animation" fare (as is done sometimes - granted, the practice surprisingly worked very well during the 4Kids era of theme songs..)

I meant the English dubbers skipped using the opening animation clips of Mad-Paced Getter. Yes by "variations" I mean when the anime opening gets updated with new visuals once certain episodes have been passed.

Gotcha; I was a bit confused since you just mentioned "theme tunes". But yeah, I would hope that there is more variety in usage of opening clips and frequency of opening animation updates. Although, it seems like the English-dubbing team is on a tighter budget compared to the Japanese production, so maybe that could be a reason for the lack of English opening-animation updates (if not relegated to a design choice)..?

My guess is that Episode N wasn't originally planned (since Team Plasma was going to be introduced in those cancelled episodes), whereas XY&Z was. The dub was able to plan in advance to split the seasons at the XY/XY&Z division, but not for BW. The dubbers clearly hadn't expected the Decolore Islands when they named their season "Adventures in Unova".
