Pokémon UNITE 2nd Anniversary
Pokémon UNITE is celebrating its 2nd anniversary starting July 21st, with new events and the release of Mewtwo. Promotional images for the anniversary posted to social media have depicted upcoming Holowear for Chandelure, Inteleon, Zacian, Lapras, Lucario and Greedent that players can expect to be added as part of these celebrations.

Mega Evolve with Mewtwo
New information has been released about Mewtwo, who will be joining the Pokémon UNITE roster from July 21st. Mewtwo is the first Pokémon in Pokémon UNITE who will be able to Mega Evolve. The developers have implied that the Pokémon is easy to use but difficult to master, having stated that they are "aiming for Mewtwo to be easy for beginners to use" with "a simple move set", while at the same time emphasising that "some moves will require good timing to bring out their full potential—meaning players will have room to show off their skills."

As previously reported, two separate licenses will be available for Mewtwo, one for each Mega Evolution path. Players will need to obtain the Unite License X: Mewtwo and Unite License Y: Mewtwo separately. With both licenses, Mewtwo will Mega Evolve by filling a Mega Gauge over the course of a match using its basic attacks and moves. Unlike in the Pokémon main series titles, where Mega Evolution lasts for the rest of a battle or until it is knocked out, in Pokémon UNITE Mega Evolution instead will last for a set period of time before the Pokémon reverts to its normal form to charge up the Mega Gauge again.

While Mega Evolved, Mewtwo's basic attacks are changed, and it received a buff to several stats. Mewtwo (Mega Mewtwo X) is a Melee All-Rounder that increases its Attack, Defense, and Sp. Def when it Mega Evolves. Mewtwo (Mega Mewtwo Y) meanwhile will instead focus on ranged attacks and mobility, though no explicit information on its Battle Style or stat distribution has yet been given.

New holowear for Aegislash
New holowear for Aegislash was added to Pokémon UNITE earlier this week. The Regal Style: Aegislash can be obtained through Zirco Trading for 2,199 Aeos Gems, and has special visual effects for Scoring, Returning, KO and Movement.
