Pokémon Video Games General Chat Thread

Strange how in both MD games Wiggly likes his friends.

I got Pokemon Rumble for the 3DS for Christmas and I haven't had the chance to play it yet. What kind of a game is it? And is it fun?

@Seto Kaiba @_@ Awh hush. I stopped feeling bad for HM Slaves the moment i sought out a furret in the early parts of SoulSilver

and sonic, i haven't played it either, granted i won it in the Bulbagarden Kwanza Clash, and i only sent archaic mah information less than a week ago.

I stopped feeling bad for HM Slaves out of necessity. It's not my fault the moves are pushed on me and I can't make a decent moveset out of them. >_>

I can never keep up with these general conversation threads. XP

I never feel bad for pieces of data.
And for those who feel bad, take your hm slave to that friend-ship checker. He will say that it loves you(provided you have it in your team since some time). So basically it gets to move around with you for free and no fighting.

Hello forum!

So I just got done watching the Pokemon Black/White movie and at its came to an end I came to an epiphany, which mainly dealt with the Pokemon video games vs. the anime. Here it is: why is it so different from one another and not similar? Why is it that the anime has little to no connection to the actual video games? The anime has all its components (Pokemon, locations, items, etc) of the games, but not the story (and they're really good and easy to make into legit movies/episodes). I mean, it came before Ash Ketchum was created, so why not follow or link stories related to the game instead of creating really farfetch'd stories around its legendaries. Don't get me wrong; I still love it, but it's been getting super off to the actual games from season to season (even though it's main audience is for kids). I mean in the Black/White movie, I was totally expecting Ghetsis to be the main villian, N as "second in command", and the Sages at his command. That would have totally been awesome! ...I guess I was wrong and my expectations fell a little. Overall, my main concern for my response to all you reading this is why can't the anime and video games be similar story-wise? I'd like some solid evidence to why this is the way it is. Thanks for your time.

Well, if the anime followed the same story as the games, it would get stale. Think about it, you play the games, and then go to see a movie following the same plot. Why waste the money? Every media form Pokemon is involved in has to be different to keep it fresh and interesting.

This.

I think the Anime functions as something that follows the games- but shows how it would be like in an Anime fashion, showing that it's not just an advertisement of the games. For Team Plasma not being there? Well, they would have been in the two-parter that hasn't ever aired, and may not, so they just may scrap the idea of Team Plasma appearing entirely, though, it would be odd, they have had all the teams in the Pokemon Anime so far excluding them.

And movie-wise, no other team but TR appears- and usually, they're not the main villians or the cause of trouble in the Films. Why? Maybe it's as the other teams are dealt with in the Anime, and it's not as if TR are actually doing much trouble in the Films. Really, I'm not sure. But I prefer creativity in the Anime, anyways than sticking to just the Game's villians. And Legends' strife is always intriguing. Just my opinion, though, I'm really not sure.

Also, laziness in some cases. And, this isn't including the teams here, but some characters in the games (i.e Playable characters, a few NPCs) have no personality to work with in the first place. Sure, it'd be fun to make one, but do you really think they will? They've done it with Dawn and May for sure, but personally, creating a personality for a character without one is detrimental as well as beneficial; they could ruin the character. And they can still wreck the character, even if the character already has a personality.

Weh! /Lazy cheer.

I know this is very strange, but... if you had to have a Pokemon name as your own, what one would it be? (It can be in any of the Languages too.)

Hmmmmm, that actually really difficult. Their approximately 493 Pokemon to choose from.

I would probably, choose "Lugia." It is such a graceful and elegant, Pokemon. But also powerful and fearsome.

There's very few names I wouldn't be embarassed to have. For a girl, maybe Eevee isn't too bad. You could act like your name's Eve and it's just a nickname.

I think you're forgetting the BW Pokemon... which boosts it up to 649, son. Quite a choice!

Interesting... I'd go for Budew's German name: Knospi. It sounds beautiful.

Yes, that's a good way out, I suppose.
