Pokémon with specific roles in the single player game

Dracovish the anti-switch wallbreaker pokemon? only fears moves of dragons and fairy type that are faster , also freeze dry weak...
Its move Fishious rend makes it a perfect revenge killer for walls, in trick rooms and against some sweepers on physical and special side...

Interesting it self has water absorb ability.

Yes, it's honey.

Lapras is supposed to be your surf slave in both Kanto and Kalos.

Also, other Pokémon that are handed to you in a silver platter so a gym is easier besides the ones I've already mentioned:

  • Geodude for Falkner (Dark Cave), Bugsy (Union Cave) and Pryce (Mt. Mortar).

  • Impidimp for Bea/Allister.
  • Fallinks for Gordi/Melony.

I think in general (especially in Gen 4+), this is less a case of designing one particular Pokémon to serve a specific role in the single-player campaign, and more just an illustration of their overall game design philosophy: They believe that you should be able to access something that is well-equipped to take down the upcoming boss before you actually go to challenge it. It's really evident with in-game trades, which are usually very optimal choices against the upcoming challenges. (Rocky the Onix > Falkner, Hawlucha in USUM gets quite a bit of mileage since it's good on the Melemele Totem, Hala, and Araquanid)

Hmm Golisopod :

- occasionally a good and fast physical Wallbreaker with 125 attack and coverage with attacking moves from 11 pokemon types to chose from

-a "Scout" with First Impression, U-turn and Emergency Exit allowing it to hit hard when coming into battle , gets Stab with it and can be used later when used in righ moment. If it would got Flip turn could get stab in water too.

-good fast revenge killer

-quite good physical Wall with 75 HP, 140 DEFENSE and 90 Special defense and only 3 weakness: electric, rock and flying....

great against countering Dark, Grass , psychic(generaly fast)

can take on many roles and is more tricky then you may think...
