The lure thing was cute. I finally saw the episode. The newer voices were weird though. Well, they sounded different to me anyway compared to the eps I used to watch years ago.

Anywho, I wonder what the dialogue was for the original. Did Satoshi give an actual reason as to why he didn't want Hikari to use the lure? Dub wise, he really didn't say. He was pretty possessive of it.

Dormant, yes. Dead, no. It could still be revived.

I count four hints AFTER Misty's departure in GCYL:

1)S10.E500 "Buizel Your Way Out of This!"
The whole lure business.

2)Chron.6 "Cerulean Blues"
When Misty “drowns” trying to calm the angry Gyarados at the Cerulean gym pool, she has visions of meeting with Ash and Brock, who encourage her when she insists that her sisters made a mistake by making her the gym leader. Ash encourages her, saying that he knows she can do it, while Misty panics and says that she needs him. Clearly, in her dreams, she subconsciously feels like she needs her old traveling companion.
When Misty learns that Pokemon Inspector Joy is traveling to the Hoenn Region, she asks that if Joy runs into a guy named Ash, to tell him that “Misty made it as a gym leader.” She clearly wants to impress him and let him know of her success.
Watch this episode. You just get such a vibe.

3)Chron.11 “A Date with Delcatty”
When Giorgio asks Misty out on a date, she declines, prompting Casey to ask her “Why not? Is there someone else?” Misty blushes and acts defensive. Suddenly, Psyduck bursts out of his pokeball and sniggers knowingly at her. Misty yells at Psyduck, prompting Casey to decide that “there IS someone else, isn’t there!”

4) Even though this was "dub-added," I like to at least give a nod to Pokemon: Jirachi Wishmaker. Ash references a “good friend who left [him] once,” whom he misses every day.

Am I leaving any out? Any more post-GCYL hints?

My point being, the show has not completely written Misty's impact on Ash's life, story, and adventure, out yet.

It would be nice if there were more from Ash/Satoshi's side as opposed to Misty/Kasumi. It's like a well-known fact that she obviously does like him. We need more hints coming from his side that she still remains on his mind or he still thinks of her compared to all his other, "I'll see you again someday" friends.

Well, he has no May or Tracey mementos I know of, but obviously his Misty lure is a big deal to him.

He has the half ribbon from May, and the half Pokeball from Gary.

Did you not see how Ash brought them both out when he saw them again?

Still, he hasn't (to my knowledge) acted possessive of them.

Yes, but he still keeps memento's of them wherever he travels. Instead of leaving them back at his house or something. So for the record, Misty is not his only friend that gave him a memento/item.

But I'm pretty sure that she's the only one to give him two!
Lure & the handkerchief

Also, for the person that was looking for non-dub hints, the handkerchief could be seen as one, because in Japan that means that a girl cares for a boy, which is completely lost on us Westerners.
So while it's still hinty, it's a bigger hint to viewers of the original dub.

I would really like to see the original episode of when Kasumi left. I'm curious of Satoshi's reaction to the handkerchief, mainly, what he said.

For the dub, from what I remember, I think Misty said something about how she finally knows how he feels about her. Could she have meant that his accepting her handkerchief showed that, I wonder?

I wish I could show you. I found it on Youtube once, in full, but sadly I can't find it now. But from what I recall, Brock gave Ash a picnic lunch and Misty gave him a hankerchief, which she wrapped the lunch in. Ash cries a bit and they part ways. As Misty bikes away she says she knows now how Ash feels about her. And later episodes would reveal that Misty still holds on to Ash, making that last line of hers mean she knows he likes her.

Yep. That was "Gotta Catch Ya Later," one of the shippiest episodes in the whole series, if you ask me.

Shipping aside, it would probably be in the top 5 episodes of the entire series...even if you judged it on technical aspects along (animation, sound quality). Add some half-a-dozen Pokeshipping hints and a plot that actually has lasting ramifications for the longest story-arc in the show (i.e. Misty's bike, the Twerps' story coming full circle), I could practically write an essay on this episode.

And yes...the handkerchief sounds like a good example of a Japanese version hint, too. Thanks for the reminder.

^ "Gotta catch ya later" has got to be in the top 5, I agree with you there. It is one of the most emotional episodes out of some 600, and provided a little closure without actually ending everything. Also, the animation's excellent for the animation abilities of the time period (I mean, it rivals some DP episodes in quality). A good ending for the 265 arc, yep.

The shippyness is just an added plus. :-D

It's not too lost, though, if you look to older times. For example, view pretty much any fiction with a knight and a lady fair, and they will often request a token from the girl. The token of choice? Usually a kerchief!

And Scott85, I guess I must of missed them.

"Gotta Catch you later!" is truly a magnificent episode. The drama, the friendship, the battles were all too amazing. The animation was just so beautiful in that episode, not to mention that the shippy scenes were an absolute bonus. It was a good ending. Ash gets emotional here which is so cute. I like that soft side of him. And Misty was so amazing in this ep.

Yeah, Misty gave him two mementos and he still keeps them. I like how he acted possesively with Misty's lure.

New discussion topic...

New question...

I've always been really proud of Pokeshipping's name. "Pokeshipping" is the show's namesake, and it really connotes an air of officialness that befits the most deliberately hinted at pairing in the anime.

Here's my question, however.

If Pokeshipping's name were not Pokeshipping, what should/might it be called?

I came up with a few ideas, including "Bikeshipping," but I wanted to hear everybody else's ideas.

Bikeshipping, Twerpshipping, Cascadeshipping, plenty of possibilities.

Cascadeshipping sounds pretty.

Unfortunately I don't have much creativity, so I can't really think of anything. XD;

I would say KantoShipping, but that belongs to BulbasaurxCharmanderxSquirtle >_<
I would also say FirstShipping, but that belongs to AshxMewtwo >_<
Another one would be SoulmateShipper, but that'd tooting our own horn a bit too much. ^_^

How about LureShipping?
Or CanonShipping?
Or BigCatchShipping, referring to when Ash and Misty first met?

BikeShipping and TwerpShipping both are already assigned to Ash & Misty, though CascadeShipping apparently is Ash & Misty, Daisy, Violet and Lily. >_<
