Re: New discussion topic...

New question...

I've always been really proud of Pokeshipping's name. "Pokeshipping" is the show's namesake, and it really connotes an air of officialness that befits the most deliberately hinted at pairing in the anime.

Here's my question, however.

If Pokeshipping's name were not Pokeshipping, what should/might it be called?

I came up with a few ideas, including "Bikeshipping," but I wanted to hear everybody else's ideas.

LureShipping comes into mind and also BikeShipping.

OriginalCompanionShipping... Bleh... Not so much creativity on this one.

Closest thing that I can come up with is Malletshipping :mallet: , though that might be Ash & Misty's Mallet. Other ideas are Hankyshipping (ty GCYL), Bickershipping (for all their arguing) and Slumbershipping (since they always seemed to find each other to lay beside when Jigglypuff would lull the group to sleep).

There was also Sushishipping (Kasumi + Satoshi) on the bulbapedia page. I don't take to that as well as the idea of Cascadeshipping, though.

Hm, just had a quick question. As it's been already mentioned, when going for the Cascade/Blue badge, Pikachu didn't want to fight against Misty/Kasumi. Has Pikachu at any other part of the show refused to battle against any other of Ash/Satoshi's friends or is she the only one?

To the best of my limited knowledge, Misty/Kasumi is the only person Pikachu has absolutely refused to battle against. Also, Pikachu has battled for Misty and seemed very eager to do so, so perhaps Pikachu has been trying to tell us something for a LONG time.

In the "Totodile Duel" Ash sent out Pikachu knowing that an Electric Pokemon had the advantage over Water-types. However, Misty declared that she had a secret weapon for battling Pikachu and that was Togepi. Pikachu absolutely refused to battle Togepi and got hit by a sweet Charm attack. Nice thinking on Misty's part. It was also funny.

Haha, I loved The Totodile Duel. Ash and Misty were awesome in that episode. Especially Misty. ^_^

But yeah, their interactions and battle were awesome. I think it's so cute how Pikachu didn't want to battle against Togepi.

I'd forgotten about that. Been a long time since I've seen it. What about the battle for Togepi. Didn't they battle against one another then?

Edit: Never mind. I remember now. Ash used Bulbasaur and Psyduck put itself in. I'm surprised he didn't try to use Pikachu then.

That episode...was just fun because they bickered so much. I loved the part where they argued in the splitscreen.

This was more of the fact Pikachu was sort of Togepi's caretaker, IMO. But yeah, it could be seen that way...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Pikachu eager to battle in that episode (until togepi was sent out)? Or am I just getting my facts screwed around >.<

Has anyone ever thought that the writers might have the story focus around Dawn, and leave Ash to his own devices, only to show up once in awhile? That would really make it possible for Ash and Misty to get together again. Diamond and Pearl really has been the Little-miss-Dawn show, after all.

Although Dawn is not horrible, I have to agree it is centered about Dawn. Dawn fans will say it's the first time a girl co-starred, but I say it's the first time a girl outshined Ash, whereas the other two girls were co-stars.

IMO, this is only because Ash as a character has gotten "stale" in the writer's minds. Not sure how some other anime writers managed to hold on, but Pokemon hasn't been quite as successful at that.

Now, I don't think Dawn will replace Ash, no matter how much the show focuses on her. Why? Contests aren't the point of the games, and can easily be discarded. Dawn might get a few episodes on her own perhaps, but she'll be gone once the next generation rolls around, if it does at all.

So, back to Ash. Ash needs to be retired eventually. So replace him with the next generation GUY for once and keep all old characters in touch.

About how Pokeshipping ties in? Well, I'd be satisfied with an ending like this:

Ash wins the Pokemon League.
He returns to Kanto after seeing some friends, his life's not complete.
He realizes he has to beat the Elite Four.
While he thinks about this, he's lying on some hillside.
Misty come to see him. They talk.
Maybe hold hands. And look forward to another adventure in the future.

Later on we could see an Elite Four match, but it's best to leave it at that I think.

I've thought that the show should end for a while now, to be honest.

Pikachu was kinda eager to battle with Misty during the Totodile episode. Too bad for Pikachu because his opponent was cute little Togepi. Aww...

Somehow the recent episodes don't really revolve around Dawn anymore. To be honest, I have never felt her outshining Ash. Maybe it's because I tend to ignore her.

Ash has gotten stale as a character. They can only do so much with him when he goes off to a new region and basically relearns how to defeat gym leaders, and I feel the show lost a lot when Misty left the group and contests became a big side story.

Have you ever noticed that contest battles seem to be more intense than most of the regular battles?

But anyway, with Dawn's character resembling Ash's quite a bit, perhaps they are going to phase Ash out. I like Quest's idea.
And to add to that idea, have Ash mentioned pretty often in the future as the show moves ahead with Dawn, Brock and a new male character. Ash will have Misty for his future adventures. :-D
