Will Ash ever grow up and stop being oblivious to the girls around him?

Well, he already has somewhat, as he has shown some obvious attraction to Misty (just not as strong as Misty's feelings towards him, obviously). But I do wish he would mature even more so that attraction could grow stronger.
hopefully... He will mature...

Seeing as thine guard the noble gates of Hades (Hell, in layman's terms...) if the esteemed flames of torment do ever begin to cool-do give us some forewarning so we might prepare...

I'll let you know. :-D Could be fun playing pick-up hockey games on the river Styx.

Will Ash ever grow up and stop being oblivious to the girls around him?

I think the only time we'll ever see that could be towards the end of his journey, if it happens during the show. Otherwise, we'd have to guess at when he might have, based upon an epilogue that shows him with someone (Misty). Though he has been shown to take a slight amount of interest in girls since he has commented or reacted when Misty has dressed like a girl and I'm sure there are examples concerning May and Dawn.

The anime really doesn't let him age. But I'd like to think that he is aging. And most especially, I would want him to develop feelings for Misty.

Ash will stop being oblivious. He's like 12 for goodness sake. Give the guy some time.

He has matured since the end of the Original series, just in the wrong ways. He's still oblivious to the hot girls around him, and he's a flat character in terms of personality.

Probably not as the writers don't want him to. The show seems more geared toward a crowd younger than tweens. The show seems mainly to be starter fodder to introduce young kids into the franchise. but I would like to see a time skip to an older and much mature Ash happen. Kinda like in Naruto or something.

I'd be happy with an official one year acknowledgment for the boy. I still would like for him to be bigger than Misty by a little, if she cameos again, though, to show that he's physically aged.

As for the question, "Will Ash ever grow up and stop being oblivious to the girls around him?"

I dunno. I saw a clip from a dub AG episode (or that Battle Frontier stuff), and Brock was acting goofy as usual over a girl (or maybe it was a Nurse Joy, don't remember), and one thing Ash told Masato (what is his dub name?) was that he hoped he would never act like that when it comes to girls or something. Wish I could remember the episode or the clip to look it up on youtube again. I came across it by chance months ago, but didn't think anything of it until recently.

So, he does seem to acknowledge them and that he can "like" them, based on that clip, and that he eventually will become a "Brock" (just not on that level of lusting after everything in a skirt), but he's just not romantically interested in them yet.

So, yes, he is capable, but I do believe he will always be oblivious. Seems to be a common trait with "guys" in general. They seem to miss the signals when girls are interested in them. Look at Naruto. Hinata seems to have a strong fondness towards him. She's even sacrificed herself for him, but I still don't think it's registered to him that Hinata likes him. He's only focused on Sakura, because he likes her, so any other girl liking him, he won't notice, because his focus is on Sakura.

There are also situation comedies and other forms of media that uses that, even with adults. Let's say a guy is married. A coworker is interested in him. Married guy thinks she's just nice. Wife of married guy knows better and warns him, yet, Married guy still never noticed that the other person really likes him.

Girls liking Ash, probably won't even be a blip on his radar, unless the girl is probably 100% blatantly obvious about it, like if she comes right out and say it.

Probably not. It's his romantic density that makes him the character he is. For everything happening around him, Ash is probably the most static character in the anime, in order to give new generations the same Ash that everybody knows. Ash has not matured in the least since his first Kanto days, simply because it would break him as a character. That, and nothing has really changed in his life. He travels the world catching Pokemon and battling Gym Leaders. That is his goal, and his focus. He is disinterested in anything and everything else.

Ash's immaturity is a representation of his character, and nothing has or will ever change that

He is a shonen hero, you're expecting too much.

Ok. Ash is very oblivious to the hot girls around him. Any other guy would noticed them by now. But hey, Pokemon is meant to be for kids. If it was targeting the older audience, than Ash would obviously have noticed the girls by now. Though the writers did make Ash notice certain girls very early on in the series. They should bring that back though. Even if Pokemon is targeted at 12 year olds.

Sorry for the double post but I had to agree with this post. This is the most accurate post I have ever read. If I could give you a kudos I would.

I think he growed up a little, after episode Gotta catch ya later. But on the other hand his feelings are very complicated, he's too young to know what he exactly feels about Misty, because he feels something (seeing how he misses her and how he cares about the lure). I think when anime will go toward the end Ash will be mature enough to understand that he loves Misty.

Perhaps. I still think that his asexuality is something the writers intended from the start. I remember that, when I was ten, I knew that I liked girls and knew enough about them to understand when I "like liked" them and when I didn't. Unless the writers are planning on making him gay (doubtful) I think they are purposely leaving him single and clueless intentionally until they plan on him spontaneously becoming mature. I mean, he is still as dense as he was 12 years ago. It doesn't seem like he's matured romantically (see Three Sides to Every Story, the most recent love-based episode translated to English, where Dawn and Pikachu criticize his density), and if they are planning on him eventually finding a romantic partner, they're going to have to mature him. Or just make some spontaneous event happen where he realizes his feelings for Misty (or another girl)

This is highly subjective then. It probably depends on the actual person. I know at ten, boys were the furthest thing from my mind. I didn't "like them", not in the "OMG, he's so cute!" kind of way. Only thing on my mind at ten were Saturday morning cartoons, Fox Kids (afternoon cartoons, like Tiny Toons and TMNT used to come on Fox in the evenings too and also the Disney Afternoon), books (was a big fan of Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume), skating (playing outside), and to a lesser extent, video games, as I didn't really get into them more until I was about 13. I guesss you could say I was a "late bloomer" in regards to the opposite sex.

What episode number is that?

Well, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I remember when I was 10 pretty well (my family had moved to another state) and having small crushes on girls. I won't get into details for everyone's sake  but regardless, maybe it is subjective. Maybe I was just a little early in development.

I was also a tomboy. I spent more time wrestling and roughhousing with boys in my elementary school years and up to 7th grade than I spent "liking them". lol As a teen, I was always around boys, but playing video games with them. Guess it just varies from person to person. I didn't fully get into boys (partially anyway) until probably late teens due to the fact that the boys around me were so...I dunno. Friend and brother material. Never thought of them as anything beyond that.

You're right in saying that he's too young to understand the complications of the heart, but since Ash isn't aging and all, we can't expect much from him. Unless the writers want to change that... Sigh...

I'm not sure I would count those as hints exactly, but they're still cute. Particularly where Misty says she's worried about Ash (Misty never worried about him, huh Advanceshippers?) and the cute moments of dialogue between Ash and Misty. So not hints, but still cute.
