“And you!” The Team Rocket leader pointed an accusatory finger at the female grunt massaging his shoulders. She froze immediately. “Fetch me my strongest wine posthaste! Absolutely nothing less will do!” She gave an awkward salute and dashed out of the room as fast as her legs could carry a woman in high heels and a miniskirt.
Giovanni squeezed his eyes shut. His head was positively throbbing, and the fluorescent lights in the room were not doing anything to ease the issue. “Fuuuuuuuuck!” he wheezed for the umpteeth time that evening.
One of the grunts timidly tapped his leader’s shoulder. “Uh... hey, Boss? Do you think you should maybe, um, go to a hospital...?”
The disgraced commander scowled. “No I do not! I am Giovanni, the leader of the largest criminal organization in the world!” He opened his eyes. “And you are fired for questioning my competence!”
As the now ex-employee opened his mouth to respond, the grunt from before rushed in, bearing a new ice pack. Giovanni snatched it the moment in came in arm’s reach and applied it instantly, gripping the sofa with his free hand.
Yes, he had the dreadful suspicion that he wouldn’t be walking properly - hell, maybe even standing - for the next while. But the mob boss was a proud man, and not one who would admit defeat to a single hit from his own son easily.
How easily this could’ve been avoided, had I only used the correct language... he reprimanded himself sardonically. But that was also an overreaction beyond the scope of anything I imagined.
Well, decided Giovanni. That was his son for you.
