Sinnoh's ghosts love maths, but not in Platinum. Giratina is a Ghost type and has to somehow neutralise all the mess Dialga and Palkia cause, that takes a lot of physics and hence math. In attempting to solve the relativity equations needed, its brainpower influences all the ambient energy of Ghost types attuned to the concept of math. In Platinum however Giratina was not originally in Turnback Cave for a while but rather in Distortion World. Platinum Ghosts start liking maths only after the events at Spear Pillar, Fantina did not change the puzzle yet

If Chuck can chuck wood, why does he not use Pokemon that know Wood Hammer?
