Forum Help Question about inactive members

What happens to the accounts of members who have not been on in years? Do they have their accounts deleted/disabled so that no one can view their posts? Or are they just left there to be buried under new posts and threads? I once looked back at a post I made in response to another member and the post I quoted was gone. What happened? Was that user's account deleted?

We don't delete posts or accounts due to a lack of activity on the part of the user; most likely, the post was either deleted by the user themself or due to reasons other than the account's activity.

Are accounts deleted at all, or are they simply left alone?

I believe accounts are sometimes deleted by user request, but whether we straight up delete or just lock the accounts when it's requested can be a bit circumstantial
