Thank GOD X Factor didn't get number one this year, and thank GOD it was someone half good who got it instead.

Asinine commercial pop (of the worst kind, they actually show how soulless and manufactured it is, and people queue up to suckle on the breast of commercialism) vs. at least half decent rock (I've been jaded by hearing RATM too much at rock clubs and little scene kids dancing to take it seriously as an anti-authoritarian anthem). Overall, meh, but as with everything I'll defer to the late great one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCbVkX7jdAM&feature=related

Well, fuck me sideways.

It wasn't really much of a contest, like. With a well-established rock band with a large following, firing off a classic song, taking on the likes of some popularity contest winner with a Miley Cyrus song, they might as well have pit a rabbit up against a dragon and asked the pair to maim each other.
