No, not the early days, my early days.I think that was Ghost.

How did the Abra line do that?I think in my early days of Pokémon, the Abra line had me convinced that Psychic beat Steel.
Two words: bent spoon. How did the Abra line do that?
Don't worry, I didn't carry that misconception through any games or anything. Bulbapedia was a real friend to me even way back before I joined this community.Well... I guess that makes sense. I guess.
Same here lolDon't worry, I didn't carry that misconception through any games or anything. Bulbapedia was a real friend to me even way back before I joined this community.![]()
How? Because they (somewhat) provided balance and nerfed the relatively overpowered Dragon Type?Fairy Types
They Screwed OU Tier Over
“Relatively Overpowered”How? Because they (somewhat) provided balance and nerfed the relatively overpowered Dragon Type?
Exactly, in being weak to themselves, Dragons forced an interesting situation, either you stayed in and took a powerful attack, or you switched, in a very predictable manner, likely to another Dragon Type that will get it's butt whooped. Many Dragon Types were also fast, with very respectable coverage, meaning that even if you had a Pokemon with a Dragon or Ice Type move that wasn't one of those types, the Dragon would likely slam you with a Super Effective move and be done with you.“Relatively Overpowered”
First. Dragons were not. They were super effective on themselves and weak to the common Ice Type. Dragons relied solely on powerful Dragon attacks. But again, they were weaker then other moves like it because they were only super effective on themselves. It was a weird state for them.
Also, Fairy types are now gods. Immune to and resisting powerful types like Dragon and Dark? The 2 types it is weak to are only really used offensively because of Fairies. With powerful moves like Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam that can be commonly learned along with Psychic moves to get around Poison Types, the only bad thing is they are really weak to physical moves. Iron Head and Poison Jab could one-shot Fairies easy. Twinkle Tackle Moonblast Clefable with max Sp. Attack comes in like a wrecking ball. How is the Fairy type balanced? How was the Dragon type overpowered? Faries did in fact ruin OU.
Fair points. But Dragon types are made to be powerful, and most have weaknesses. Some are too frail, others too slow, and so on. But read this.Exactly, in being weak to themselves, Dragons forced an interesting situation, either you stayed in and took a powerful attack, or you switched, in a very predictable manner, likely to another Dragon Type that will get it's butt whooped. The very fact that Fairy Type are now centralising (but not weak to themselves), makes for a fairer centralisation. They're typically less diverse, and can't just slam with themselves with STAB and be done with it. They also shook up the metagame, by suddenly making Poison and Steel type attacks relevant, resulting in a greater meta change than if they didn't appear. Plus, Twinkle Tackle is like, one off, surely there's ways to handle things after it's over?
That is so true. Clefable is now used almost as often as Chansey for a special wall, but Clefable can actually attack. Not to mention fairies completely beat down good pokes to the bottom on every tier.
RIP norm Sableye
This is in fact, not an inherently bad thing. From a personal level, yeah, it sucks, I can appreciate that. But from a meta point of view, it creates a shift, resulting in Pokemon being used that wouldn't even be considered otherwise. And there's nothing saying that some of those Pokemon couldn't come back if something else shakes up the playing field. Another new type, a revamp to mechanics, any number of things could potentially revive your precious Sabeleye.Fairy Types
They Screwed OU Tier Over
So you do what people did when Dragons were a threat. Play around it. Use something with a powerful Physical Steel/Poison type attack, beat it at its own walling game with Poison/Burn damage. That's how games like this work, you play around things that worry you, and if workarounds conflict, take a calculated risk, which would be more likely/harmful to appear? Can I still deal with one to a lesser degree with something else I have? That is so true. Clefable is now used almost as often as Chansey for a special wall, but Clefable can actually attack.
no, you don't. That plus fairies resisting them would be too much.I'm hoping they reverse this honestly.. Bite, and crunch shouldn't be super effective against said steel type Pokémon..
No idea.Since when did RM become competitive battling central?![]()
Good point. In all honesty if fairies are too much of a threat then just use Mega Bee, or mega gross if it stays ou. They were issues for fairy types in G6 but with the legendary Tapu Pokémon Mega bee is probably the best check / hard counter
