Technology was certainly capable back then, and it still is now.
Dang straight. And what's even more incredible is that we were able to fly to the moon in the 60s with computers that had less calculating power than the smartphone I'm using to write this post. I've always been fascinated by things like this: things that mankind has once done with less advanced capabilities, but hasn't done since. I sure hope we'll do this again someday, though.

To quote Tom Hanks from the movie Apollo 13:

"I look up at the moon, and wonder: when will we be going back, and who will that be?"
