I don’t have to convince the weather service of anything. They’re wrong, and either they realize they’re wrong and are deliberately tricking people into using nonsensical temperature scales, or they don’t realize they’re wrong, in which case they’re not the source of misinformation that I’m looking to combat.

An excellent question.
Kelvin works by adding 273.15 to any temperature in Celsius, thus creating a temperature which starts at Absolute Zero, which is the temperature at which reality itself freezes completely, instead of having temperature scales based off of arbitrary concepts like the freezing and evaporation points of a random chemical under very specific circumstances.
