...seriously, y'all. we've got a major problem here. Did somebody check the thread's temperature?

I’m here now. I brought mint milkshakes.
Yummy! I'll take one after the race, please!
* lands back into the water with a splash * Whoo-hoo!

starts poking the thread with a stick

I'll figure out the problem...eventually.

In the meantime, assuming that rain doesn't evaporate on sight, you should at least have a temporary solution.

Checks the thread’s thermometer

Ooooh. Here’s the problem. Some dingus switched over the units to Celsius, so, instead of being at a balmy 297 Kelvin we’re at 297 Celsius. That’s almost 3x the boiling point of water.

Someone didn’t program the switch routine correctly. It should have converted to an equal temperature in celcius.

No. The switch routine is exactly as intended. I couldn’t remove the feature to change temperature scales, but I could find ways to discourage people from using the wrong temperature scales. :p

...well now you’ve done it. Everything is going to freeze, since I reset the thermometer to Kelvin.

changes the thermometer back to 297K

Don’t touch that dial.

... Don't thermometers measure temperature, not control it?
