Pokemon is far from my favorite series, even with XY. The lack of a strong post game in nearly every game hurts my opinion of it more than I should let it.
I didn't mind the lack of post-game in Gen III as much as I do in recent games, tbh. Mostly because I felt like I could just restart it with not repercussions. If I restarted in XY it would feel like I was deleting a lot more.

Gen III as a whole had post game. Ruby and Sapphire didn't. Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green certainly did.
I'd hardly call an addition to the Safari Zone a post-game.
