Re: Random Friendly Messages Episode X

Brabant is awesome

We have a healthy and not so serious rivalry with Zeeland and Limburg
In my region the rivalry with Zeeland is stronger than that with Limburg, because Zeeland is very close and Limburg is over 120 km away

Which is quite much for Dutch standards
Distance is relative

120 km is a big distance, I'd say. Not huge, but big definitely.

I went to Ireland and the people there were used to travelling large distances frequently
It was a thinly populated area (near Northern Ireland, in Cavan) and if people there need new furniture or other large stuff, they have to go all the way to Dublin, about 250 km away

Upon hearing that we live less than 400 km from Paris, they exclaimed that they'd go there every month if they'd live that close to it
We all never go to Paris, with the very rare exception of going there on holiday

The fact that Ireland is an island probably adds to the necessity of travelling great distances

I haven't changed my profile background in a long time.
But it's perfect so I don't think I need to.

Athens is 260 km from here, and people go there fairly regularly. When they want to buy furniture and stuff though, they just go 131 KM to Patras. I get the island thing though, having lived on one. There's only one big city, and it's usually not that big anyway.

Re: Random Friendly Messages Episode X

Large stuff like furniture will be bought at the nearest IKEA (35 km from here) or at a large high quality furniture store (a furniture boulevard, as the Dutch name's translated) 25 km from here

Living in a densely populated country has its advantages
Especially when the density isn't really noticeable

Apparently, the farthest that I have traveled was 374 miles to San Francisco. Las Vegas is 276 miles away.

The farthest that I have travelled is about 1600 km to Italy and another time to Spain

Anyway, I'm going to sleep now.
Goodnight, voyageurs!

You wouldn't want to drive to Perth(it's in the west)and takes about 3000+ Miles or 3+ days depending on how long you stop

Or you take the much more convenient Trans-Continental railway.
