The first Europeans to set foot on Australia were Dutch! Indonesia was our main colony, so we were in the neighbourhood anyway and decided to pay the aussies a visit.
P.S.: Hiya!
The Aboriginals? XD Although that is true (it was originally called new Holland), the Brits made the first colony. Made up of convicts.
New York used to be Dutch as well. It was called New Amsterdam at first. But then we traded it with England and we got Suriname. Names like Brooklyn (Breukelen) and Harlem (Haarlem) come from Dutch people from these towns who moved to New Amsterdam named their new home after their place of birth.
