Not much of a difference...
When you use it, there is. Jam has chunks of fruit in it, making it not much fun to spread. Jelly is just jellied fruit juice (though if it's too firm, it has a problem similar to jam).

... I like jam- but, we make homemade strawberry Jam and it tastes a lot better then jelly...
