Re: Random Messages Thread: Chapter 12, Paragaph 3 - "Rooby Racks!"
Only one problem: the Jews in the school. Personally, I'd read A Christmas Carol if I had to, but it's not a book that I'd really enjoy all that much. I don't hate Christmas specials/songs/books or anything, but they're not my cup of tea. (Granted, not everything Hanukkah-related is something that I'd enjoy watching/reading/listening to. Eight Crazy Nights is proof of that.)
Again, each to their own. I would say that it is generally enjoyed more by girls, as Lord of the Flies is by boys.
Why my English teacher won't take on board my suggestion, I really don't know - A Christmas Carol is the only true gender - neutral book on the syllabus, it's free for anyone with a smartphone, tablet or computer (kindle app is free as is the kindle copy), It's compulsory to study it in primary school so everyone already know as it, the paper questions are easier than usual because the language is harder and, let's face it, you don't get more classic than Dickens.
