Speaking of measurements though. I learned recently that a metric ton and an imperial ton are almost the same weight. Huh... I always thought imperial ton was way heavier. I have no idea why

In imperial measurement that the US uses, 1 ton=2000 pounds
In metric, 1 ton=1000 kilograms


1 imperial ton= 0.9071847 metric tons
1 metric ton=1.102311 imperial tons

I should note that this is just approximate on the Earth's surface, though.


Since imperial tons measure force and metric tons measure mass, these numbers will change a lot if you go to the moon or something. Even moving somewhere else on Earth can change it a tiny bit.
