ROGUE'S GALLERY

What is this?
Rogue's Gallery is a roleplay about the hero's and villains of the world clashing in battle of good versus evil to see who will come out as victorious in the end. While some mercenaries and such make profit out of the whole deal.

How in tarnation does this confounded roleplay work?**

The janitor (Currently undecided) randomly draws two characters: One hero, and one villain. The relevant players are notified, and the villain creates a plot, or what they intend to do. It is the hero's job to make sure this doesn't happen. Each player can select up to two allies. They can be of any affinity, even one opposite yours. However, note that characters of opposite alignments are usually less loyal...

After allies have been chosen, a thread is created in the Private RPs district. There, the characters duke it out, the heroes in an attempt to stop the villain's plan, the villains attempting to ensure their success. The winner(s) should ideally be agreed upon by all participants. However, if a consensus cannot be made, a staffer can decide. The winner should primarily be based off of whether the villain was successful or not. In the event of defections, anyone on the winning side at the end takes a win. Anyone on the losing side at the end takes a loss.

**: There may be some pieces added on here and there.

Sign-Ups form

Real Name: What your character's actual name is. Most superheroes don't want people referring to them by their real names.
Alias: The name of their superhero persona.
Affinity: Your character's side: Either Hero, Villain, or Mercenary.
Citizenship: What country is your character from, and where do they usually live now?
Age: How old is your character? Immortality is possible, but cliche.
Appearance: What does your dude look like? Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Superpowers: What supernatural abilities does your character have?
Abilities: This covers anything your character develops naturally. Lifting weights to become strong enough to lift cars is an ability; Dunking oneself in a vat of radioactive goo to achieve the same effect is not.
Equipment: What kind of equipment does your character have? Stuff like magic swords, jetpacks, and bazookas go here.
Backstory: What makes your character who they are? Make sure to be detailed, and include how your character got his or her powers.
Theme Song: Is there a song that perfectly describes your character? Put it here! This field is totally optional.

DA RULES

-No Godmodding: No making your characters ridiculously power. All characters should be at roughly the same strength: The determinant for winner should not be how powerful a character is, but how good an RPer is at strategizing. In a similar vein, no saying an attack hit: Your opponent is the one who decides that.
-Avoid OOC: If it's gonna take up 300 posts, take it to VM.
-Respect other RPers: This should go without saying: Be honest, be nice, stuff like that. Be chill, and treat others like you want to be treated yourself.

New Alcatraz

The I.M.S.P.P.E. (International Maximum Security Prison for Physio-anomalous Entities), commonly referred as "New Alcatraz," is a high-security 'super-prison' located in New York, New York, the only of its kind in the world. Created through the combined efforts of multiple National Governments from across the world, New Alcatraz is the only facility specifically designed to contain, control, and occasionally protect "Physio-anomalous Entities" (Supervillains/heroes). The facility is furnished with a variety of specialized cells tailored to the specific powers and capabilities of their respective inmates, as well as many 'all-purpose' cells for individuals about which little is known or to hold individuals during the interim while a specialized cell is developed. The facility has a pretty good track-record, with only one inmate ever having escaped the facility.

Notable Inmates:

... There are none at the moment.

Staff: Members and Positions
Unlike in most RPs, where there is a single GM with lots of co-GMs, there are several co-GMs, each one with approximately equal power. This makes it so staffers can participate in the RPs with as much fairness as possible. Staffers cannot accept their own characters, or set up their own plots, or rule on their own missions. The positions are:
Janitor
Kenwood, until I can get someone else on board to do it for me.
The Janitor's job is to make sure the original post is up to date. He or she also organizes plots, rolling them and sending out PMs. For his own plots, some other staffer will send out the PMs. The janitor cannot accept characters or rule on plots.

Post Officer
((AVAILABLE))
The post officer's job is to send out VMs and PMs that are not related to actual missions. He also can accept characters and rule on plots.

Warden
((AVAILABLE))
The warden is in control of New Alcatraz and the courts in the RGverse: He decides when people escape, and also hands down sentences to arrested villains. He can, like most other staffers, accept characters and rule on plots.

CO-GM
((AVAILABLE))
The CO-GM's job is to accept sign-ups, rule on plots, and do everything else that doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of the other sta

Quick-Strike
In each roleplay, all participating characters may use one "Quick-Strike" (additional Quick-Strikes may be acquired through winning games). A Quick-Strike is essentially a single attack or other action which can be performed with the assumption of success (i.e. "powerplay"). For instance, you can say your character punched your opponent in the jaw, rather than saying he "attempted" to do so and waiting for your opponents response. Quick-Strikes adhere to a strict "3-Second-Rule" - i.e. the maneuver is limited to what is physically possible for your character to complete withing a three-second period of time.

Quick-Strikes can never be used with the intent of fatal consequences or severe injury, nor are they acceptable as "plot-finishers" (i.e. your Quick-Strike cannot be the sole cause of your victory in the roleplay).

Real Name: Eliot Schwag

Alias: Dr. Cat

Affinity: Villain

Citizenship: American

Age: 22

Appearance: Dr. Catz is fairly tall, at 6'2, but also very slender and lanky. His hair is on the long side, shaggy, and black. His skin is chocolate colored, and he has green eyes. He has a penchant for wearing designer suits when out on the prowl. He puts temporary red highlights in his hair, and to complete the cat theme, he puts on a pair of black kitty ears. It's not much of a disguise, but when he goes out as a normal person, he carries himself differently. He doesn't care all that much about his secret identity anyway past not wanting to get arrested every time he goes to the store.

Superpowers: The fungus in Dr. Cat's brain has enhanced it's power. He's now able to create some very impressive inventions. It has also increased his reflexes to an impressive degree.

Abilities: Dr. Cat has trained in the use of his bat as a weapon, and is a formidable opponent with it.

Equipment:
Bombs: Inside of his labcoat, Dr. Cat carries large amounts of small, multicolored balls, each one about the size of a grape and with a small cat face drawn on them. Or what look like bouncy balls. They're actually small explosives. He can squeeze them before throwing them, which makes them detonate on impact. If he doesn't, though, there's a button on his watch which causes all bombs outside of a one-foot radius of him to detonate. The explosions they create are strong enough to break through brick walls, but they have a small radius. So they while they're strong, they're easy to dodge if you see Cat throw one.

Stun Baton: Dr. Cat carries around an aluminum bat. It has inside of it a device much like a stun gun. Anyone hit with it will receive a powerful electric shock, in addition to the damage from being hit over the head with what a metal bat.

Zombie Dust: Dr. Cat has genetically engineered his own breed of fungus. When it comes into contact with dead tissue, it travels to the nervous center of the brain of whatever is dead. It then takes over, reanimating the corpse as a zombie. The minions created aren't very smart, and can't understand many orders beyond "kill that thing" or "open that door." They're also fairly slow. They are about as strong as an average human, though, and a bit more durable, seeing as they can't feel pain. When applied to a living organism, it heals their wounds.

Backstory: Eliot was a botany student in college when he gained his powers. And by that, I mean that he was failing botany because he spent most of his time in college tripping on shrooms. He needed to gain some credits, so he went on a field trip to a mycology lab. There, the scientists were studying using fungus to grow human organs. Eliot didn't pay any attention to this, but he did think one of the mushrooms they were growing looked like it would get him mad high. So he stole it, and upon returning home, took it. Little did he know, the mushroom he ate was a prototype that was supposed to help people with degenerative brain diseases.

Over the next week, he started feeling funny. He had to skip classes, even more than usual, as he was getting intense headaches. He began having thoughts that weren't his. Like another person was using his brain to think. And that person was brilliant. He ended up concluding that it was his cat, Mr. Fluffy, that was giving him all these amazing ideas for cool gadgets. He locked himself in his dorm, only coming out to find food and steal various parts. He created a new fungus, called Zombie Powder. Mr. Fluffy told him what he must do: He must spread his spores, cover the world in a deep moss. He took the name Dr. Cat, in honor of his mentor, and swore that the world would be his.

Real Name: N/A

Alias: The Ragman

Affinity: Hero

Citizenship: US/UK

Age: Presumably in 30's

Appearance: Looks like a scarecrow in a trench coat.

Superpowers: N/A

Abilities: Ragman is a well trained martial artist with peak human strength and durability. He also has an iron will which he uses to get himself out of tight situations.

Equipment:
Lead pipe- A lead pipe, do I have to go into detail? he uses it to viciously pummel his foes into crippled submission.

Smoke bombs- To escape situations that get too hot to handle.

Two brass knuckles- One for each hand, has them constantly equipped in case of hand-to-hand combat situations.

Backstory: Formally a faceless bum. The Ragman was rumored to have started out as a street fighter who fell from fame and glory, with nothing left he saw how dirty society could be, so with next to no choice, he donned a rag over his face and began his heroic reign as Ragman.

For three years now, he's been dodging police and fighting crime, despite the mixed reception from the people.

Do excuse the double post, just felt to insert my own hero.

Real Name: Micaela Firth-Weir
Alias: Icira Witherflame
Affinity: Villain
Citizenship: United States
Age: 35
Appearance:
  • Before Alteration: Micaela was short, standing at 5' 4", and somewhat overweight, though by no means fat. Her hair and eyes were the color of dark chocolate, and her skin was lightly tanned. She tended to wear a pair of rectangular eyeglasses and stereotypical office garb.
  • After Alteration: In her most common form, Icira stands much taller at 6' even, and sports a leaner physique. Her pale, seductive face is framed by a ginger bob cut, and her eyes are now emerald green. In this form, she has a thing for form-fitting leather jumpsuits.
Superpowers: Icira can alter her genetic and molecular structure at will to assume any human appearance. Any DNA she leaves at the scene of a crime is useless as evidence.
Abilities: While not a skilled physical fighter, Icira is a born schemer and strategist. She is also a masterful actress; combined with her shapeshifting power, this makes her the ultimate spy.
Equipment: Icira has the entire New World Order at her disposal. This includes:
  • A research and development division, which can create new equipment, vehicles and even physio-anomalous entities;
  • A human relations division;
  • Most importantly, the New World Militia, which includes armed infantry.
In case she finds herself in a combat situation, she carries a taser and a cast-iron frying pan.
Backstory: Having always admired her younger sister Alice's pacifistic nature, Micaela looked upon the human race at large with disdain. She often dreamed of a world where everyone was as sweet and caring as Alice, but never thought such a thing possible.

Then, in college, she met a brilliant young scientist named Emerson Blackfield who shared the same dream. He had already concluded that such a goal was attainable, but only by destroying all humans and starting from scratch. Though reluctant, Micaela eventually agreed with him, thus beginning their long-standing partnership.

Blackfield's experiments in physio-anomalies bore fruit in the form of a serum that, when exposed to a certain electromagnetic frequency, permanently endowed Micaela with limited shapeshifting powers. Following this, she fashioned herself a more impressive name, "Icira Witherflame", and began forming the New World Order under the false pretense of usurping the world's governments and uniting all nations under one banner.

Today, Icira leads the Order as its "Supreme Empress", commanding a vast research and development team headed by Blackfield, a massive military division and a human relations department responsible for recruiting additional members. She is assisted by a cabinet of four other physio-anomalous entities, whose identities will be revealed in due time.

In addition, she has begun forays into field operations, making use of her shapeshifting power to gather information and elude the authorities. She will gladly enlist or assist any other villain she thinks can further her goal.
Theme Song: "The Radio Tower Takeover" — Junichi Masuda, arr. Shinji Miyazaki

Real Name: Will Ritter
Alias: Magister
Affinity: Hero
Citizenship: New Zealand
Age: 33
Appearance: Standing at about 6' even, pale-skinned Will sports a dirty blond mullet and dark brown eyes. His slender, stern face sits atop a well-built body, which bears numerous scars from training sessions and battles. He most commonly wears a royal blue wizard robe and black shoes, both with gold trim.
Superpowers: Will possesses limited telekinesis, allowing him to summon objects toward him or push them away; this doesn't appear to work on living things. Furthermore, he can superheat, freeze or electrify almost any inanimate object he comes into direct contact with, with exceptions where applicable.
Abilities: Apart from being quite strong, Will is an adept swordsman, able to wield most any single-handed blade effectively. He is also a fair marksman, though he rarely makes use of this skill.
Equipment: Will carries a steel longsword with no unusual properties.
Backstory: Bizarrely, both Will and his sister Emma were born with their powers, a mystery that science has yet to solve. As a result of this, they were placed under the tutelage of Mark Mitchell, another physio-anomalous entity, to learn to control their powers properly. Mitchell also taught them a number of physical combat techniques, effectively training them to become heroes.

But at the age of twenty-one, Will discovered a horrifying truth. Whilst delivering a package to his teacher's private quarters, he came upon a dusty old journal. Inside was the story of a man who sold his soul for the power to harvest those of others, strengthening himself in the process. The latest entries spoke of two naïve students whose souls, with enough training, would be ripe for harvest before the year was out.

Shocked and repulsed, Will and Emma went immediately to meet Mitchell in combat. Unfortunately, they proved to be no match for him, and Will was left seriously injured while Emma lost her life. It was only through the intervention of Mitchell's assistant, Brooke Walker, that Will escaped alive—disgusted with her boss's true nature, she abandoned him and teleported Will to safety.

Now married with two children—Kylie and Owen, who have also inherited their parents' powers—Will and Brooke, under the codenames "Magister" and "Echo", race across the globe in a desperate quest to find Mitchell and stop him before he can devour any more souls. Oddly, they are very rarely seen together, more often dividing their search. As yet, they still have no leads.

Real Name: N/A

Alias: Zane

Affinity: Villain

Citizenship: US

Age: presumed 30's-40's

Appearance:

Superpowers: N/A

Abilities: Zane has impeccable acting skills and is a master chemist who is capable of making an array of poisons and explosives. Zane also apparently is somewhat acrobatic.

Equipment: Zane possesses a wide array of theatrics, including smoke bombs, actual bombs, flash bangs, and such. Zane also carries several knifes,a crowbar, and a handgun just in case things get a bit too rough. Zane often wields a harpoon gun, as well. But Zane's master piece has to be his crazy gas, which causes the victim to slowly lose them self and become much more erratic over the period of time of exposure.

Backstory: There are many versions to Zane's backstory. The most common one involving him being a tax worker that accidentally almost caused a yakuza clan to go into debt. Their response left Zane in the ashes and rubble of whatever remained of his family. And his only logical response to losing what family he had left was to go crazy.

Theme Song: Scissor Sisters - I Can't Decide - YouTube

Here's Zane.

And are you sure, Glitch, I could really use the help.

I don't think I'm really qualified to do that.

I did it last time, and if I'm qualified, you are. Also, IIRC, you were on the staff.

Real Name: Mikhail Dracula
Alias: None
Affinity: Hero
Citizenship: Romanian
Age: 60, though physically he's about 20.
Appearance: What does your dude look like? Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Superpowers: Mikhail is a half-vampire. While he lacks many powers full-blooded vampires have, he also lacks many of their weaknesses. He mostly has the physical ones: First off, he's extremely strong. Like, to the point where he can punch through a brick wall and tear a man's arm off. This also means he's quite fast. He won't be competing in the olympics anytime soon, but he can still run circles around most people. Finally, he's got a healing factor. Small wounds, like scrapes, take a second or so to heal. Larger ones take about a half a minute to a minute, while big wounds that would threaten a normal person's life take several minutes to an hour. He also feels a lot less pain than normal people.
Mikhail does have some weaknesses, although less than a normal vampire. He won't die in the sun. However, the UV rays are a lot more stressful to his eyes than a normal person's. So without sunglasses, he's going to find it difficult to see in daylight.
Also, garlic is dangerous to him. Just touching it won't hurt him, but if he ingests some somehow, he'll become violently ill, too nauseous to do much of anything until he pukes the garlic back up.
Finally, holy symbols cause a rash, and more importantly drastically reduce his healing factor while he's in direct contact with them.
Abilities: None.
Equipment: A pair of goggles that protect his eyes from the sun. He usually keeps a pair around his neck, and an extra pair in his pockets.
Backstory: Mikhail is the son of Vlad Dracula. His mother is a Romanian tourist who his dad chatted up. They hit it off, and 9 months later, Mikhail was born. He was a bit spoiled. His dad wanted him to go out and do evil things, sure, but his mom would have none of it. So he did what many vampires did: They displaced his addiction to blood with a different one. In Mikhail's case, it's anime, video games, and other weeaboo paraphenelia. He spent most of his time secluded in his room in the castle.
His mom, however, recently passed away. His dad decided that his son would have to make something of himself. So he barged into Mikhail's room, and told him that if he didn't get out of his parent's basement, he'd take away all of his manga and his dorumaki. He then grabbed Mikhail and threw him out the window.
Mikhail then decided that he may as well. Most of his idea of the outside world came from anime and manga. So he decided he'd be a hero like in one of his Japanese cartoons. He still has his allowance, so he's been travelling the world looking for evil to fight.
Theme Song: Is there a song that perfectly describes your character? Put it here! This field is totally optional.

I was on the Knight Pokémon University staff, and I think we had different playability standards. Fact of the matter is, when it comes to superheroes/villains, I don't know what's considered "fair and balanced", and so I tend to set restrictions that may seem too severe to some.

So look, if you want me to help, you've gotta lay down the ground rules for me. On a scale of Aquaman to Superman, where do we draw the line?

What's this, the fifth incarnation now? Long live the Rogues Gallery I suppose.

Real Name: Leonard Alexander Mendel
Alias: Splice
Affinity: Villain
Citizenship: Dual citizenship (USA/Poland); Currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
Age: 47

Appearance: Leonard stands at 6'2" with a very muscular build. His skin is of rather pale tone and home to several scars. He wears his dark brown hair pushed back with a thick jawline beard and heavy eyebrows. His eyes are dark brown and have formed into a seemingly permanent scowl. Leonard wears a white, skin-tight shirt with black trim, khaki cargo pants, and brown leather combat boots.

Superpowers: Due to the imperfect gene splicing process, Leonard's genome contains many residual animal genes. They've changed very little in his physical appearance (whether or not his excessive hair growth is just hereditary is up for debate) but his internal biology has been heavily influenced. Over time he's received improved strength, regenerative properties, senses, and reflexes.

Abilities: Having spent time in many different forms, Leonard can use gained animal traits to their highest ability.

Equipment:
Gene Splicer - A device of Leonard's own design and his eponym. In the shape of a gauntlet, he wears it on his left forearm. It connects into his bloodstream where it releases Mendel's own engineered white blood cells. Said cells release specialized antibodies through his body that alter all cells to a genome predetermined within the device. This allows Leonard to morph into an infinite range of anthropomorphic animal forms and is even capable of mixing a wide array of species into a single genome. The Splicer can read the genetic code of any animal cells it comes in contact with but can't hold hold any besides Leonard's own for an extended period of time because of the amount of data such would consume. With the codes it computes the perfect combination of the chosen species' genes and his own for transformation. This can also just as easily be reversed and flush the foreign genes from his body. These processes are highly efficient, with a more complex transformation only taking at most twenty seconds.
The Splicer can also be used on others; however, because their own genome isn't taken into detailed account the transformation leaves them with them decreased mental capabilities and is for the most part permanent. Products of this generally accept Leonard as their leader and follow him as mindless drones.
Self-Repairing Fabric - All of Mendel's clothing is made from self repairing material. This is especially helpful with his transformations as many times he will sprout new appendages such as wings or extra arms. Having torn through the clothing they will obviously leave holes that the fabric will mend by itself.
DNA Vials - Leonard often carries around vials of concentrated animal cells. However because of their bulky and fragile nature he can keep few with him at a time.

Backstory: Leonard was born to a Polish father and an American mother. From a young age, he had taken a strong interest in heredity. He had even begun breeding hamsters in his basement. Over time this interest grew into a passion. Having received a PhD in genetics, Mendel made it his career. He joined the study of interspecies cloning, eventually becoming one to the leading scientists in the field.
Viewing the current methods as inefficient, Leonard team had begun research on the genetic alteration of organisms post birth. They had developed splicer-bodies, proteins designed to make predetermined changes to an organisms genome. As seems especially prone to happen in realities of the sort, a horrible accident occurred in the lab. The proteins had made their way into Leonard's body and fused his DNA with that of a rat. Though they could easily flush the foreign DNA from his system, they were not prepared for the hormonal imbalances that would occur in the brain of a human subject. That short time as a hybrid had changed Leonard, he had become mentally unstable. All he desired was power and he saw the splicer as his gateway to it. Having stolen the research, Mendel fled into hiding, preparing to raise an empire with him on top.

Real Name: Drew Vermillion
Alias: The Detective Prince (Prefers to go by his real name, even when working)
Affinity: Hero
Citizenship: England
Age: 16
Appearance: Drew stands at 5,7 and weighs 125lbs. His appearance is almost boyish, having pale olive toned skin with grey colored eyes and black hair with bangs long enough make it hard to see his eyes. He is very slender, being rather slim in physique with slender arms and legs. He typically wears a light blue button up shirt long sleeved collared dress shirt with a yellow tie and a pair of designer jeans. He has a gun in a holster attached to his waist, the gun being an antique revolver. The outfit is then completed with a pair of brown leather loafers, and finally a blue cap with a black visor. He also keeps a small deck of cards that look like Tarot Cards.

Superpowers: Drew has the ability to summon entities to his aid called Spirit Guardians. By crushing a card in his deck, he summons a spirit whom he can work in tandem with in fighting. However, he's dependent on these cards to mount an offense, and without them, he's pretty helpless. Drew can only summon one spirit at a time. His spirits include:

The Fool: Orpheus: The spirit of a minstrel, Orpheus is a young man capable of using lyre to play songs. Using his Lyre, Orpheus can cast a variety of spells that cast offensive fire magic or provide buffs to Drew and his Allies.
