Re: What new "kinds" of Pokemon do you predict?

Then where did the name come from?

Here is a good breakdown of the name, I think (From Bulbapedia):

Absol's name may be derived from 物騒 bussō, dangerous, but much debate exists over the true origin of its name. One common theory is that it is a combination of ab-, a prefix meaning away/from, and sol, meaning sun, referring to its Dark-type nature. It could also be a shortened form of "absolution" or "absolve", referring to the fact that while Absol foretells disasters, it does not cause them, thereby absolving it of guilt.

Then what would happen when the 3rd version comes out(the one most people are calling gray) would it have both the fire and ice caves somewhere in the region?

Sounds good. Or the area is split. They could figure it out.

Maybe it could be like what Platinum did with the fossils, where the one you get is determined by your Trainer ID?

They're not useless. They're cute and add more flavor to the Pokemon they evolve into. If there was an Absol prevo, I would like Absol that much more.

Re: What new "kinds" of Pokemon do you predict?

So the only reason for them to exist is to be cute and add flavor?

"all looks, no substance."

We here in Washington call that a waste of space.

Re: What new "kinds" of Pokemon do you predict?

What is the point of half the Pokemon, then? A lot of them have absolutely horrid stats and movepools, but they have their unique reasons for existing. Banette: GREAT Attack. Shitty defenses, speed, and HP. But hey, it's a neat Pokemon. Is it useless?

Gamefreak is going to make pre-evolutions. It's going to happen. We might as well speculate on WHICH Pokemon will get prevos. Absol, Lapras, and Heracross are deserving. If they get evolutions, it'd be a bit frustrating, considering OTHER Pokemon could really use evolutions while these already somewhat strong Pokemon could happily accept a baby form.

Just because I know they will be made doesn't mean I have to like them. Until HGSS, I never even owned a Pichu. Stupid things.

Re: What new "kinds" of Pokemon do you predict?

I didn't say you had to like them. I agree to a point. If all the 'baby' forms never existed, we would probably have 15 or so spots for other Pokemon to exist. Other ones that could be used competitively and be "cooler". I'm just saying it's gonna happen. So Zwampert is making good guesses on prevos.

Hell for all we know they could pull another gen III on us. No prevos or evos. I wouldn't mind that at all. In fact I think that would make isshu stand out better on it's own

Re: What new "kinds" of Pokemon do you predict?

In terms of old Pokémon, if I was in charge of designing Generation V, I'd only have 12 Pokémon related to former Pokémon:

Pre-Evolutions:
Nyako -> Meowth -> Persian
Lapier -> Lapras

Evolutions:
Dunsparce -> Tsukinochi
Snubbull -> Granbull -> Angbull
Qwilfish -> Fugusen
Skitty -> Delcatty -> Enekogusa
Torkoal -> Pomptoise
Shuppet -> Banette -> Kiruinn
Luvdisc -> Loveren
Pachirisu -> Risuboru
Chatot -> Paracaw
Carnivine -> Muskiba

For fun, I made Japanese names for them, using my limited skill and a translator xD Some, like Lapier, Angbull, Pomptoise and Paracaw could also be kept in localisation.

And no, Angbull is not Angry + Bull. It's Anglo + Bull. Although both could work xD

or they could introduce a diffrent cave for the pokemon to evolve, making another version exclusive, that way when "gray" comes out people still have a use for Black and White, because all too often the special version overshadows the original 2 versions.

I feel that a Griffin-based Pokemon would be awesome. It's also possible that they'll dive into more mythological creature pokemon such as a Kraken (or Leviathan) and others that I suddenly forgot. :p

If not that then I'm seeing split evos for Mr. Mime (simply put would be Ms. Mime?). And also for Jynx (though I can't seem to come up with a name.)

I was surprised when I saw the sarcophagus Pokemon. Seems like a pretty original idea, although I've heard otherwise. Just sayin', I'm not disappointed with what they've shown so far.
