Yeah, on the basis of the Sugimori interview, my position has changed from skeptical but open to belief that IT'S ALL FAKE. I think Melkor's either partly or completely full of shit.

I hope it is. I want to DISCOVER stuff... though that would mean not going on here anymore. XD

Hahaha. I guess being salty does have its advantages! Mijumaru's evolution (and Tsujarta's and Pokabu's by association) is a proven fake because it shares nothing of the Japanese culture.

A samurai helm that looks nothing like "Miju3"'s does not boost rep, V.

How about taking a look at V Faction's newest post in the Translation thread? Honestly, if one were to actually look and analyze, they would see some similarities and things.

I'm not saying that it's completely real, because there's still room for doubt, but to be so stubborn and headstrong as to not consider the different possibilities is not the best way to go about things.

Wooter evo being ''fake'' because it hasn´t a katana...the horn of its head. And Sugimori said is a sea lion.

1. He said that Tsutarja's style is based on western styling and Pokabu's is based on Chinese styling, only Mijumaru's is actually based on Japanese culture.

2. Ever seen a Samurai with a brushy mustache wearing a Helmet before? The 3rd evolution sort of looks like that. Also the 2nd form looks like a warrior-ish Pokemon.

Okay, the staff have decided to retract the ban on starter discussion in light of this interview, but only so long as the discussion remains civil.

So what?

The fuck does, say, Swampert have to do with Japanese culture?

I don't see how people can deny this. Wasn't it outright stated that he tried to blend a sea otter and a sea lion? And that Miju's stomach (shell) would become a sword (horn). I really don't think our Miju3 just had those by accident. No one is THAT good of a guesser.

Forget civil, I'm just trying to keep up with everyone. Man oh man.

Lots of Grass Pokemon. I'm scared for the future, whether it comes true or not.

The one thing that I find iffy is that how is Miju3 supposed to be fighting? Has there ever been a quadrupedal fighting type? Because IIRC wasn't Miju said to evolve into a water/Fighting type?

YES. The only issue I have with no spoilers is that I'm gonna be afraid to evolve my Pokemon, for fear that I'll dislike their evolutions. :p

Grass is practically everywhere man, so of course there would be a handful of grass types. The fact Spring and Summer are implemented into the games isn't helping ether.

The difference is the interview with Ken Sugimori posted in the translation thread. Mijumaru's line is explicitly based on Japanese influences while Pokabu is Chinese and Tsujarta is Western. You know, unless you doubt the word of Ken Sugimori.

1. He said that Tsutarja's style is based on western styling and Pokabu's is based on Chinese styling, only Mijumaru's is actually based on Japanese culture.
Guilt by association. Have you heard of that?

2. Ever seen a Samurai with a brushy mustache wearing a Helmet before? The 3rd evolution sort of looks like that. Also the 2nd form looks like a warrior-ish Pokemon.
Yes, I have. But it goes from having a Samurai body to just having a samurai head? Yeah...

The problem with this is that a Shell Horn cannot do what a Shell Blade (Knife, Sickle, what have you). You can't exactly cut someone with a pointy shell. Cause a small point of bleeding? Sure. But to actually use it as a blade.

Seals and otters can use their hind limbs to stand up, and their tail as balance. Plus the Miju3's forelegs also have thumbs, meaning it can grasp things (kinda like how jigglypuff and others can, despite no fingers). The horn can be swung side to side or the pokemon can shove/jump using it's powerful tail and it's strong neck muscles. :3

Erm...surely Sugimori said "Mijumaru's evolution". Sure, the Japanese language has no singular or plurals, but he could be talking about singular.

You can probably see that Mijumaru's first stage has two shells on either side of its stomach; the side of the body being a common place for sword sheathes to be located, so it seems likely that Mijumaru uses only one 'sword' but when it evolves, it gains the ability to use two.

Of course, Mijumaru's first stage was on the beta sheet, so we know that's wheel. But yeah.

Grass Pokemon once in a while are fine. But I prefer them paired up with another type.

The info so far has had a lot of pure Grass-types....

Yes, I have. But it goes from having a Samurai body to just having a samurai head? Yeah...
It's still got the samurai chestplate and shoulder plate made out of shells.
