Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Cause unless they bring back flavors or a new berry ordering system, I just don't see how the games would handle calculating and varying the move power for each and every berry.

They've done it before with Natural Gift. I don't understand why they can't do that now.

Wasn't savvy of it till a couple of seconds ago, so then I'd say itst likely. Man I like making an ass outta myself....
Out of curiosity, what makes you think that everything but the mewtwo part of the leak is true?

I already gave my reasons about how 2 of the 3 rumors that I quoted were likely to be false. I didn't complain about only the Mewtwo rumor.

Here are my reasons. It says that "if the previously revealed forme of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly similar to Mewtwo’s original design, the second supposed form of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly/vaguely similar to Mew‘s design." First, this statement is redundant because Mewtwo is already vaguely similar to Mew in the first place. Second, the movie was already released and only one alternate form was shown. So, they won't advertise this "mysterious", second form until the last minute? They had a great opportunity to advertise it, but it was wasted if the rumor was true. I don't think that Game Freak would do that. It's probably a lie in order to not have the source of the information shut down.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Uhuh. Have you noticed at all that the advertisement arguement is redundant considering how the movie event mewtwo has no ties AT ALL with whatever the in game way to gain the forme? That is the missed opportunity, not not showing the second forme. More so its likely to warm people up to the idea of a mewtwo forme, plus the need of material for the movie. Further on, this the first time we have no word on anything about the forme itself, and the time period for this is really strange. We likely have no info cause they want to reveal both together in full.
As per the look, that could mean anything from size to color. And considering how it comes from the second batch which was iffy but actually has the bulk of confirmed leaks is pretty damn enough for it to be real as well.

How is the advertisement argument redundant? Kyurem's alternate forms were advertised months before the games came out, and the movie premiered before the game in Japan. In contrast, only one Mewtwo form was advertised. Only ONE. It's unlikely that they would work on another movie to advertise another Mewtwo form after the games came out.

Because one case is a pokemon that is the box mascot gaining two formes that need showtime, and the other is two formes for a pokemon that prolly has a nice side story in the upcoming games, that can be advertised with only one as the movie doesn't tie in to the games as much as previous ones have. MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Yeah "major difference". The newer movies are arguably not tied to the games at all. Still, we don't have any information on a second Mewtwo form. How many new forms do you think there will be? One for each game in Gen VI? One for X, Y, and the hypothetical Z?

Here are the other rumors with which I have a problem:

A few attacks will be dual-typed. (WPM Note: Many people are interpreting this as an attack shooting out two types at once, but it could just be that the attack switches types under certain conditions or something like that.)

The WPM note implies that moves like that don't exist (hint: Hidden Power). Also, it is unlikely for true dual-type moves to appear in a Pokémon game in my opinion.

The next rumor is Mawile being retyped to Steel/Fairy. I don't understand the reasoning behind that. What's Fairy-like about Mawile? Mawile's personality fits a Dark-type very well.

You also have four people that you can call a rival. Why does the rumor say that there were only 2 rivals?

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Mawile is based on a mythical creature. Fairies are mythical creatures...so...that could be it. Not saying Dark doesn't fit, but...Fairy could, too.

And for the rivals, it's possible that you don't fight some of the 4 friends revealed (like Lucas or Lyra) or maybe not as often as others, so they wouldn't be called rivals.

Fairy fits Mawile perfectly, as does Dark and specially Ghost.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Dunsparce is based on a mythical creature, but it's a Normal-type. There were some that wanted Dunsparce to be retyped to Fairy simply because it was based on a mythical creature. To me, that isn't good enough.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Well, there's nothing to say that those four are the only Pokemon getting re-typed...so...Dunsparce could still be changed. I don't personally see it, but, it's possible...apparently.

I think Mawile better fits the deceptive or trickstery type of Fairies, which works perfectly for Mawile.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

The problem is to determine what defines a "Fairy" in the first place. If there was a deceptive fairy, wouldn't a Dark/Fairy typing be more appropriate?

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Considering a Pokémon like Marill got re-typed to Fairy, I'm pretty sure there's no reason Mawile or Dunsparce couldn't be re-typed as well because they fit the Fairy bill a lot better than Marill did.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

I suppose Fairy is more appropriate than Dark because of the Futakuchi-onna that Mawile is based off of.

And? Would a Pokémon based on the yuki onna be a Fairy-type simply because it is a mythical creature?

I think that's a pretty safe assumption. Also considering that Fairy being introduced this generation makes it more probable for a Pokémon like Mawile to be re-typed a NEW type, as opposed to an EXISTING type (like Dark).
