That's such an alarmist analysis for Freeze Dry. Dragons have way more stacked up against it this generation (a new SE, an immunity, some weird mist thing), yet no one seems ready to retire them yet.
I haven't been able to track all the new info, so I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but how do we know that there are only 69 new pokemon while there are still 30 empty spaces in the dex? Any clarification would be highly appreciated.
Everyone's assuming that because Chespin is #650 and Zygarde is #719 that the National dex can't pull a Sinnoh dex in Platinum (AKA having regular Pokemon AFTER the legendaries, with more legendaries to follow) Victini already broke the mold and we've had countless other examples of regular 'mons and other legendaries being sprinkled in weird places at the end of a regional dex (Dragonite +Tyranitar lines, Phione, Victini, etc.) That being said, I don't think we're getting anymore non-DLC event Pokemon, besides one more regular 'mon to meet the 70 new Pokemon. And that'll most likely be the Ground/Fairy everyone's been looking for. (The Mew of this generation will probably be DLC like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin and Victini were before it...)
Also, could the OP get updated with every Kalos-mon's National dex #, please?

They will wait for fans reactions. We would never get Dusknoir and Gliscor without it.
Who said that there will be DLC anyway? No one confirms this yet from what I heard all the way!
They are part of the Platinum Expansion. Pretty sure they were only added to the game after an update.
Anyone else noticed that if we get a Dragon/Steel pokemon it will have two Weakness (Ground and Fighting), 4 Normal Damages (Fairy, Fire, Ice and Dragon) and 12 Resistances? That ignoring it could have levitate being immune to Ground. It would be OP, now i know why it won't happen.

Both Steel/Fairy and Steel/Flying are better defensively then Steel/Dragon. And we already have all three.

Wut? They both were in DP from the beginning, but getting a Gligar or Dusclops to evolve required RSE.

But you can't compare them offensively. Dragon are the best offensive type.
But anyway, I do hope they pull a Platinum stunt if the remaining spaces in the dex are not-so-golden oldies, since I do feel we've been fairly shortchanged with the new Mons. So I'm still hoping that the missing spaces are newbies, and that the current national dex number isn't totally accurate (wishful thinking, I know, but I can dream, right?).
I don't understand the sentiment that it's better for Florges to be pure Fairy instead of Fairy/Grass because it has too many weaknesses or a 4x weakness to Poison or whatever. Do the people saying stuff like this not realize that Grass/Fairy has SIX resistances (Water, Grass, Fighting, Dark, Electric, Ground), almost all of them useful, AND an immunity (Dragon)? That's pretty good trade-off, IMO.
Sadly, there are types that are simply cursed with a stigma. Grass is one of them.I don't understand the sentiment that it's better for Florges to be pure Fairy instead of Fairy/Grass because it has too many weaknesses or a 4x weakness to Poison or whatever. If they are basing the legends on Nordic mythos, then by all means an ice wolf is needed. Fenrir, anyone?
We do have the Eagle, an legendary to represent the deers and Jörmungandr (the snake). We are missing, between the important mythological creatures, Níðhöggr (the Dragon), Ratatöskr (the Squirrel), something based on some of the 6 Wolves, Draugr (the undead creature) and Hafgufa (the sea monster).
They would be cool
Edit: sorry wrong snake name![]()
