If they are basing the legends on Nordic mythos, then by all means an ice wolf is needed. Fenrir, anyone?

Norse mythology is only an analysis of some fans. The legendary are based on the Cartesian coordinate system. Furthermore, the game is based in France, not Germany, unless GF is so ignorance to do an all Europe are the same, then I don't think Norse mythology has much to do with the game.

Noivern's stats and ability. It has a serious nature. The Noibat was caught at level 58 and then evolved at 59, so not sure what level it actually needs to evolve, most likely something a bit lower.

As long as we get more Pokémon down the line and they all have badass and/or cute designs, I'm fine with whatever origins they have.

Ditto that to the extreme, my man! So here's to a Platinum-like stunt for Pokemon Z!

Speedy special attacker...for some reason I expected it to focus on physical attack rather than special.

That's kinda disappointing...

its base stats are, at best, 100/72/89/99/95/139. And that assuming 0 IV

I like Goodra and Florges because they seem like "half-type" Pokemon that work well on a Water / Grass team without actually being that type.

I'd like to see more of those in the future.

Early speculations did mention "common ground" in regards to the third legendary so the latter would make sense.

How do you think that Aura Break would work? Like if Water Pulse hits (pretty sure it's an aura move) it would confuse the Pokemon using the move?

Or maybe Aura Sphere would be reflected and it would instead hurt the Pokemon using it?

A speedy Special hitter, eh? Kinda suspected that with BoomBurst and Dragon Pulse as part of it's arsenal. Whatever, I'm still gonna use one regardless of this "update", as I still find it cool. Probably better than some 2-stagers (and even some 3-stagers) in the games, so I'm not upset.

It's the Abilities, not the attacks. Yveltal's Dark Aura ability powers it down, instead of up, and Xerneas's Fairy Aura does the same, if Zygarde is in play.

This is my first time as part of the Pokécommunity so IDK, but how soon after D/P did people realize 20+ new Pokémon were missing (most of which were later included in Platinum).

What are the Cartesian coordinates? Also, Pandas aren't French yet we still have Pancham. Neither are ninjas (Greninja) or masked Mexican wrestlers (Hawlucha). So I'm sure they could've based the legends off of Norse creatures if they wanted to. Also, there's a Stonehenge in the map of Kalos, as well as a desert. So GameFreak's definitely not getting an A for accuracy. (But the region itself seems like it's gonna get a 10/10 from most of us, including me.

Just got this from Smogon regarding sky battles, someone noted that Kapachi said that the 3d models of Pokemon has to be flying to participate in sky battles.

@BlackButterfree; Because the "missing" Pokemon were added in during post-game DP Pokedex, such as Gliscor, Gallade, Magmortar, and even Giratina. Platinum made them available from the start instead of leaving them post-game like DP did. DP's dex was a lot smaller because they didn't add in the others right away (thought they were there, but inaccessible through normal gameplay). Platinum "expanded" the dex to include the Mons that were originally DP post-game (and, in some cased, needed some gimmicks to obtain, such as the dongle method).

So that's what I mean: XY will be like DP, not have all the new Pokemon right away, only have them available post-game, while Z will be like Platinum, where all this Gen's Mons will be available from the get-go.

Cartesian coordinates refers to the grid system used by mathematicians. The X axis is horizontal and the Y axis is vertical. The argument was originally that Since the Y legendary was a bird (vertical) and the X legendary was a deer (on the ground, so horizontal) there would be an "origin" legendary where the two axes converged. That or the Z axis that refers to depth potentially being a water type.

Cartesian coordinate is your x, y, z axis. I'm not talking about common mons, it's hard enough for GF to come up with one, let alone coming up with one that fit the region that is based on. I'm not saying that the legendary should fit the myth of whatever country it's based on, but if they are doing Norse, it makes more sense that the region is based in Germany, Iceland or Denmark. The short version is, GF have their own theme irrespective of real life myth, the individual mon could be based on real life myth, but the overall theme is not. So I'm don't think ice wolf or squirrel likely. Besides they should have make a Poison legendary first.

Ah thanks. Cleared it up for me.

@CynthiaLover Then let's hope there's 20+ Pokémon floating in cyberspace somewhere.

@BurgerInYellow That's pretty cool. Maybe Zygarde's Z-Version Forme is a Water/Dragon or Water/Ground (Hoenn reference!)?

I think they are based on both the Cartesian system and Norse mythology.

Read this-
Pokémon X and Y Based on Norse Mythology, Third Legendary Will be a Serpent

It's analysis of Xerneas is what sold me.

The other two just fit.
