Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

I do love most of the details in this new batch of rumors like the Dark/Electric cheetah, Litleo becoming Fire/Poison, a dolphin line and some of the new Pokemon, but it does sound pretty unlikely. It sounds too good to be true and I don't think that we're getting another Eevee evolution. It would have been in the new short since they wanted to focus on all of the Eevee evolutions. I like the idea of Sycamore being the champion. It would be a surprising twist. Though, I think it's more likely that he'll be a strong trainer to fight in the post-storyline.

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

First off I didn't mention the metagame, I meant in-game a flying/fire bird is really unique and gives you major type coverage for a good chunk of the types.
Not really. Fire is SE against four types, Flying only adds one more (Fighting), for a total of five. Though it does give you some better STAB options against Fire, Water, Electric, and Dragon hybrids, it's not like Fire+Ground (eight types) or Ice+Ground (nine types) which can wreck half the chart easily.

Second, stat distro is different between starters and regional birds, which can make a difference. Like staraptor with the right focus on certain stats it can be viable.
Okay, I'll give you that.

BTW, regarding the rumored "Meowstic" ... I don't think the name's resemblance to Meowth is actually much of an argument. Compare: Zubat vs. Woobat.

Now that is trolling.

I like to imagine that if I were involved in playtesting I would (1) abide by the obligations to NOT leak things at all, or at least (2) phrase any leaks hypothetically so they look just like any old speculation (preferably mixing them in with actual speculation).

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

I don't get the inappropriateness of that name.

I'm pretty sure blatantly naming a character after a prominent female demon from the bible isn't something Game Freak would do.

It's not a prominent figure in the Bible though.

Wikipedia said:
There is an ongoing scholarly debate as to whether the concept of Lilith occurs in the Bible. The only possible occurrence is in the Book of Isaiah 34:13–15, describing the desolation of Edom, where the Hebrew word lilit (or lilith) appears in a list of eight unclean animals, some of which may have demonic associations

I don't see any issue with them using the name Lilith, not that I believe the rumors, but I find nothing unbelievable about that being a name.

Lilith is a figure in Jewish mythology, actually.

Not being a prominent figure doesn't change the fact that it's named after a female demon that on some accounts was a human who was seduced by Satan. Or the fact that Lilith as characterized as a female demon is prominent in pop culture enough that people would recognize it from that alone.

I don't think anyone would raise a fuss over that honestly. The actual origin of it is obscure enough to the average parent's mind that they probably won't think of the actual mythological figure, nor do I think Pokemon has that much mainstream presence to cause and issue.

If anything they'll think of Frasier.

So they're trying to say that Chespin is Grass/Rock, Sylveon is the only new Eeveelution, Helioptile evolves into something snake-like?

Spritzee has a split evolution? Or another form? Something about life and destruction for Xerneas and Yveltal, which...we already knew...

Which Pokemon is Odoshishi? It evolves by Fairy Stone?

...Not that I really believe any of that, but, it was fun to decode.

Stantler evolves into Xerneas, while Farfetch'd evolves into Yveltal.

That's the scoop of the century, evolving Legendaries!

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

I would expect Stantler to evolve into a Psychic-type more than a Fairy-type after looking at its Pokédex entries.

Stantler has part Fairy evo, then? Or Stantler itself is now half-Fairy, too? I agree that it doesn't look like it would be, but...Xerneas...

I would expect no less from something so . . . farfetched!

I think it's a pretty big non issue. People name their kids Lucifer and Jesus and also Lilith. Maybe not as often as Ben, John, and Jessica but I have met people with these names. And I think the fact that the name Lilith evokes a darker side is kind of the point. Pokemon the games aren't as friendly as Pokemon the show. Read almost any Pokedex entry of a Ghost type and even some Dark types. Plus I think GameFreak have realized at this point the super religious that are going to throw a fit about the name Lilith have already been throwing a fit about the magical creatures element for the past sixteen years now.

I remember when I was ten a girl told me I'd go to hell for playing Pokemon. She also told me how her parents informed her they threw cards in the fire and they sprouted legs and walked out. Ah good times :)

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

Hello. I am an employee of Nintendo, and what I'm about to say could get me in big trouble. I really love the Pokemon community and I thought I'd do you a little favor. So, without further ado, I now present some insider info on the upcoming games, Pokemon X and Y.

Inkay's evolutionary method is known as a Flip Evolution. It needs to reach level 35 when the 3DS is upside down in order to evolve into Malamar. Voltorb now evolves into Electrode through Flip Evolution at level 30.

Sylveon is not the only Eeveelution this generation. There is also Dragaeon, the Dragon-type. Sylveon evolves when Eevee is leveled up in Miru Forest with high Luster (A new mechanic which I'll cover later). Dragaeon will evolve when leveled up at the Crag Lagoon with high Luster.

Mawile will evolve into Mongur, a Steel/Fairy. It is a humanoid Pokemon resembling a woman. On the back of her head is an enlarged, ferocious-looking version of Mawile's jaw, and her hair forms a pair of tendrils. It is classified as the Hungry Pokemon.

Sableye will also receive an evolution. Feraldry is a Dark/Ghost type. It evolves from Sableye at night when its Luster is high. It is a goblin-like creature with large crystal formations protruding from its back and arms. It has excellent defensive stats.

Pokemon Amie is used to raise a Pokemon's Luster. Basically, the more you interact and the better quality food you feed it, its Luster rating will improve. Luster increases Evasion and critical hit ratio, and is also used in Pokemon Contests, which are making a return in this generation.

Anyone seen this yet?

Re: Rumour Discussion and Speculation

In regards to these rumours that have been making the rounds:

I'm calling fake for numerous reasons.

- The first one, is that PokéBeach's source which has since been proven as legitimate, states that the fourth gym leader will be Fighting-type.
- With all the promotion the Eeveelutions have received in Japan so far, including the short before the latest movie, it would be ridiculous for another Eevee evolution to be hidden away. It would have been revealed at the same time as Sylveon.
- Talonflame is most likely the final evolution of Fletchling. If you look at Fletchling's tail there is one marking, whereas Talonflame's has three.
- Farfetch'd won't evolve. Why it''s unlikely is explained in its Origin of Species article.
- Miltank and Tauros receiving a pre-evolution is one of those things the fans have been going on about since Gen II. It's simply taking a commonly wanted fan idea and throwing it out there so people will want to support the rumour.
- Blaise's name is WAY too similar to Blaine's - even moreso than Pryce and Brycen.
- Pseudo-legendary is a fan-term and a fan distinction. Any kind of official source would not call a Pokémon one.

Seems like whoever made this saw Pokébeach's rumour and decided to build on it, but forgot a few details.
