In terms of design, doing what the masses expect/want (or more accurately, think they want) usually isn't a good way of going about it. Just look at Luchalitten, lol. But I can see why you'd do that.
You just summed up a point I wanted to prove with this, the point that more animalistic designs or designs you expect don't always mean a better design. Though sadly these are getting some positive reception to such boring designs. Thankfully there are some like you that do see the negatives.

I have several problems with this. To start with, I've previously already mentioned how that is not the symbol for lead. I have searched absolutely everywhere, and that symbol is never used for lead. Different symbols for lead are listed here.

Also, about the night starters + Type:Null theory: No. I have to be frank and just say no. Firstly, look at that aquatic tail. It is not only extremely un-Popplio-like, it is also vertical, when mammal flukes are exclusively horizontal. Secondly, look at the hind legs. They are very generic, plus they have hexagonal scales on them, which, if anything, would imply a Zygarde connection. If a part of a monster was supposed to say "fire" as the fin says "water" and the talons "grass" (which is also a massive stretch, although they could be bug, but then that would have nothing to do with Rowlet, anyway), it would either be red/orange or invoke a sense of flames, such as flowing fur (think Arcanine or Flareon).

Also, to my mind, Type:Null seems like a one-off case. They certainly wouldn't make it version exclusive after giving so much news about it already. One synthetic chimera Pokemon seems special enough, two's a bit excessive, especially since they've described it as something that was made strong enough to take on a legendary.

Plus, those "talons" on Type: Null look much more like bug legs.

That was your point? Oh, shoot, sorry. I have got to start reading posts more carefully.

Well, personally I do like your tiger more than Luchalitten, but I'm very much in the animalistic preference camp. XD It's not great, maybe, but it better suits my preference. And I gotta admit- I'm totally okay with a "boring" design? I don't mind if an evolution looks pretty much just like a bigger form of its pre-evo. I don't need it to have its own personality. And the reason for that is, if it's something of a blank slate, I can put my own personality onto it without it being as strongly influenced by whatever personality Gamefreak imposed upon it. Of course, I'm looking at this from the view of an artist and roleplayer wanting to make characters of these pokemon, not someone just playing the games.

I also tend to picture pokemon beside people and the idea of someone next to a giant muscle-man-tiger is something I find horrifying. Although the more I think about a person owning a Luchalitten as a pet, the more amused I am by pet man-tiger. It's still kinda horrifying to me, but also somewhat hilarious picturing it behaving like a regular cat.

It's a sad time to be friendless and internet-less if Version-Exclusive Evolutions become a thing. :(

I've found people on Pokemon forums to be pretty trustworthy though. So not having real life friends you can trade with shouldn't be an issue.

Especially if you find someone else who's also trying to evolve their Rockruff.

Can't help you with the internet-less part though...

Thanks for the advice! I am just hoping then for time based starter evolutions then if there will be. If not, then I am okay with the current final stages.

As far as being internetless, go to a library or if you can find one, a Nintendo zone (places with at&t wifi). 3DSes can't connect to starbucks anymore for some reason.

Personally since rockruff and the starters have diffrent secrets I still doubt the version exclusive evolutions are going to be the a thing. Split evolutions maybe, but not version exclusives.

We don't have version exclusive evolutions. We have version exclusive forms which is what Lycanroc has. If we did, it probably gives us more reason to trade with another trainer or buy the other version. That is what we call a smart strategy to make more money when it comes to Game Freak making games.

You keep saying this on this thread, but I think people know. We're just more used to saying evolutions than forms, especially when the way the forms are designed makes them look like completely different evolutions.

We know they're forms of the same pokemon, we just assume everyone knows what we mean when we say "evolutions" instead of "forms".

Not to mention ever since last gen a lot of people myself included thar have been calling the meowstics "split evolutions" even though they're gender specific forms.

I mean when you have a big enough difference like the meowstics and lycathrocs stats and movepools they might as well be split evolutions.

If that isnt enough cause for the accidental switch out, then take "evolution" being in "mega evolutions" name. But we all know those are temporary forms. At least things like lycathroc and meowstic are permanent. It's also not like people are calling wishywashy's school form an evolution now that a reasonable translation has been out.

But either way, back to topic, I still doubt they'd be version exclusive. Especially since the retranslation of the original scans that somebody did that pointed out that it said "also share a secret" and not "same".

So for all we know is both versions are in the games but you'll either have to play with the clock or wait 12 hours if you want them.
