If Litten is anything but Fire/Poison upon its final evolution, it's an entirely missed opportunity -- it's description and sulfuric acid-like alchemic symbol on its forehead in tandem are incredibly telling.

I will be taking these supposed types for the evolutions with a giant grain of salt.

On the Japanese website by inspecting the images for the starter type icons, grass is icon01.png, flying is icon02.png, fire is icon04.png and water is icon05.png
Changing the number in the URL gives us

Man, the way that people are twisting this is ridiculous. I suppose it's possible that Litten becomes Fire/Ground (although I think Rowlet must become Grass/Ground as well, given the ordering), but where do they get Fire/Rock?!? Is it that inconceivable that Rowlet changes typing and Litten stays purr Fire type?

I really like the Rowlet & Litten evo but that Popplio one looks downright creepy.

The only one I like is the Litten evo. The Popplio and Rowlet are freaking me out. Seriously, Rowlet's looks like some creepy stalker dude and Popplio has something like a Joker smile; it's like the two of them want to gang up and kill somebody.

The Litten one has a nice panther vibe. I dig that.

I doubt Litten becomes fire/ground. If that were the case, I would expect icon03 to be fire, and icon04 to be ground, rather than the other way around. So I think the ground typing is more likely to do with Rowlet.
I see the following as the plausible cases:
A: grass/ground evolution
B: grass/ground mega
C: ground-type move they plan on showcasing on the page for some reason
or
D: the first tri-type gimmick (and grass/flying/ground wouldn't be the most unbalanced combo for that, they actually cancel a lot of each others' resistances/weaknesses. RIP against Ice, though)

Option A is the most likely, but the others at least seem somewhat possible. Maybe tri-type is the gimmick of this generation, who knows?

Water/Fighting checks out for Popplio, so I'll buy into that.

While I didn't ask for one, I kinda want one now... Though the idea of a garden gnome Pokemon being Fairy/Rock isn't something I'd expect.

The idea of a garden gnome Pokemon that can fling rocks at the many Rowlet's I am likely to encounter suddenly appeals to me.

The final Popplio (fake) evolution is indeed creepy, but I kinda like it. It is unique. Rowlett's is GOAT, though. Litten falls on the generic side, kinda.

Too clown like. Too creepy. Never again.

Rowlet's is pretty cool (though a bit too human like for pokemon standards). And Litten's is just too plain and boring.

I agree, ground coming before fire goes with some people's speculation of a grass/ground burrowing owl and Litten could be pure fire like Typhlosion
