Review S19 EP30: A Diamond in the Rough!

This episode had a lot more potential but it wasted treated like a filler. 6/10 from me.

This episode wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, either. I was happy to see Goodra again, but I wish it wasn't in a filler. Still this episode was pretty cute, what with Dedenne, Carbink and Goodra. And I found the running gag with Quagsire hilarious.

Goodra presumably has a new VA, but I could hardly tell the difference. And doesn't Ash realize that all of Team Rocket's mechas nowadays are shock-proof? Ah well. The fight scene was pretty cool.
And hey, we have Goodra's true return in the Kalos League. But did anyone get a little sad when Bonnie said she was going to keep Squishy as her Pokémon and when Ash said he was going to win the Kalos League "for sure", when we know neither of those things are going to happen?

After six great episodes (which would've been consecutive if that stupid Phantump episode never happened), we're back to filler. Still, things to point out:

-The dub music went from being amazing to being just normal great for this episode.

-Goodra and Talonflame appear to have new voices.

And that's about all I have to say.

I'm a bit disappointed. For an episode about reuniting with Goodra, this was a let down.

The plot was pretty generic; wild Pokemon are causing trouble, Ash and co. help. But my gosh everything went by so slowly. They spent almost half the episode just looking for Carbink for pete's sake. The atmosphere was pretty dull as well. Ash and co. sounded pretty damn unconcerned when they found out Bonnie was missing and it seemed they weren't even planning on moving from their spot until they heard her yelling. And pretty minor, but Keanan didn't even mention watching Serena's Master Class Showcase on TV. That was just so weird to specifically show them watching, but not bring it up. Also, is it just me, or is Goodra's voice different.

Though to keep this from being completely negative, I'll mention the things I liked. Dedenne running to Goodra for a hug, Goodra shaking hands with Noivern, Florges constantly, wrongfully beating up that poor Quagsire, Dedenne spying on TR and trying to destroy their machine, and Alain defeating Korrina and getting a badge (but how the hell was Lucario perfectly fine like 5 minutes after being blasted into the wall:unsure:).

Overall, this could have been much better imo. 6.7/10

That's one of the worst (in terms of being evil) things Team Rocket has ever done, straight up animal abuse, bloody hell. They could've just caught them though... and what was their end goal here? kill the twerps? I doubt the thing could fly and eventually those Carbink would've died

That actually ended up a super badass way for TR to be beaten. Meowth would be useful for team Ash really cuz he can talk to Pokemon, would help out in the "what's wrong" with no assuming. He also didn't get beat by any of those attacks... no swirly eyes, he's clearly OP

That poor Quagsire though. ...it also seemed to... enjoy being beaten up. I guess it has a crush on that Florges...

Yeah Goodra got a new voice actor after Tom Wayland left TPCi

Talonflame's voice changed in XY121-XY122

So, en route to Lumiose City, the gang decides to stop by Goodra's home. It was nice to see Ash, Goodra and Dedenne have a little hug, when they met after this long time, and that Ash called out his Pokémon to see Goodra. The Dragon handshake was beautiful.

I liked the plot of the episode as such, but I did not quite understand why the mischievous Carbink was behaving the way it was. I like to believe that it had no particular reason, and was misbehaving just cuz.

Personally, I found "the mischievous Carbink stealing berries from Florges and poor Quagsire being blamed for it" part of the episode to be pretty hilarious.:LOL::LOL: But why did it like being spanked is beyond me; did it try to impress Florges and win over her heart. I hope I'm wrong. The two can't even breed! Of course, Floette puts a stop to its pranks. (I personally expected her to do nothing and was glad that she actually did something contributing to the plot, instead of just escorting Florges.) Good job, Floette! (y)

Poor Carbink is surrounded by Pokémon, is above a lake and can't burrow through water; poor Carbink is finally trapped. I liked that Florges approached the mischievous Carbink with an angry look, and actually wanted her to scold it for its destruction, but I was let down. It was also nice to see Dedenne trying to free the six trapped Carbink from Team Rocket, even though he failed.

Overall, I felt that this episode was quite fun to watch, especially with the presence of the mischievous Carbink, the angry Florges and the poor Quagsire.
