It’s kind of weird that they changed the TRio’s Rotom Phone from being smug to an actual child, though it is kind of funny. Though, I didn’t think the Rotom was what had the knowledge, it’s the Pokédex that has the info and Rotom is just conveying it, so it doesn’t really make sense.
I liked the way it trailed off with, "I don't know." That got a chuckle out of me.Its later line is also very childish:
"Drednaw are not very nice Pokémon. Once it starts to chase you, you're toast."
It only gets funnier in the future, trust me.that rotom phone really caught me off guard. very unexpected, but it’s kinda funny (for now at least).
One minor difference is that in the Japanese version, he says that he'll learn from this battle too, before correcting himself to say "victory" instead, while in the dub, he says "victory" from the start.Leon's speech is the same in both versions. The legend knows how to make a great speech.
I loved that part in both versions. The dialogue between Leon and Lance was also very well written.
My guess is the change was made to distinguish it from the real life Pokémon World Championships.(I am not calling it the World Coronation Series...it's a stupid and unnecessary change that bugged me all episode)
Agreed. And it's not getting any better with the future batches. The upcoming one cuts off just before Ash's epic rematch with Korrina, and the third one is going to cut off just before Ash revisits Alola.I will say, I don't like how Netflix/TPCI/whoever decided to make the releases 12 episodes each. It's a bummer that this initial run of episodes ends up on a cliffhanger. I get it leaves you wanting more, but...it's a 3 month wait.

Gyarados moved around a lot while using Aqua Tail and Ice Fang. The main offender was Gyarados whose lack of mobility made it boring to watch
Saying "a lot" is being generous methinks since it was mainly two aerial launches via aqua tail and a forward dash through Ice Fang. His agility (as in the actual word, not the speed stat) was practically non-existent as evidenced by his inability to turn once he lunges in a direction. Lance really should've rethought the idea of sending out a Sea Serpent on a dry land field, even if it was for a Type advantage.Gyarados moved around a lot while using Aqua Tail and Ice Fang.
The original version actually received a very positive welcome here when it first aired. I personally consider this as one of the best Journeys episodes so far.Regardless, t'was not very interesting to watch either way.
