Wow, an episode without Ash? What is the world coming too... :sneaky:

A pretty good episode, dealing with Gou's friendless background. The budding friendship between Gou and Horace(?) was pretty cute and I got surprisingly emotional at the end when they were reunited...was that a Shiny Celebi at the end there? Anyways it was really cool to see Gou packing more than just his usual Raboot/Sobble and see Scyther and Farfetched in action again. :bulbaLove:

Yup. This episode was originally meant to air in Japan this summer, along with the 23rd movie, before both of them were delayed by the pandemic, so it was probably meant to tie into it. I think the idea was to have Ash and Goh on separate adventures, both of which involved a Shiny Celebi in some capacity.

It looks like the pandemic affected some stuff. Sunflora and Celebi kept their JP voices. Celebi was dubbed in SM, and Sunflora used Kayzie Rogers archive clips in M21

Isn't the Secrets of Jungle movie part of the separate continuity established in I Choose You?

Um, why? Celebi had always kept its Japanese voice every other time it's appeared, if I recall correctly.
They do seem to be dubbing over Pokemon that usually keep their Japanese voices more often nowadays

Yeah, I noticed that watching today. And Sunflora used archive clips in The Power of Us? Is that confirmed somewhere?

Cast lists (thank @BigDocFan for always being awesome and getting them) for M21 don't have anyone as Sunflora but it's clearly dubbed. Not 100% totally confirmed its archive but *shrug*

Listening to M21, Sunflora was definitely dubbed compared to this episode, my guess is they used archive for M21 but lockdown made it hard to access it for this episode or audition a new actress

Sunflora was clearly dubbed in M21, but as for archive clips, unless someone says something, it could just be a spot-on impression.

From the cast lists I got from Lisa Ortiz for M21, nobody was credited for Sunflora so they probably used archive for that movie
